First Day Results of 5 day pouch test
Ok guys,
Did anyone bravely step on the scale this morning. I know when we're loosing weight, daily weigh ins are discouraged but after struggling through the 1st day of liquids, I had to peek. To my surprise, I was down almost 4 pounds. I know that was just initial fluid, etc, but wow.....that's the first time the scale has gone in the right direction for a while.
Everyone please post your feelings and/or success after day one. We'll get through this together.

I haven't been brave enough to step on a scale in ages....I was weighed a couple months ago at my follow-up, and I have a dr's appointment on the 22nd of this month when I get weighed. I have scale issues, I have not made friends with the scale yet. I know by how I feel whether I've put on a few or lost a few. One of my 2008 goals is to make the scale my firend, though. I just can't do that right now. I will get weighed at the docs and then I'll start at home. I need a therapist just to get me through my scale issues!!
My first day on the 5dpt was fine! I didn't obsess too much about the lack of food choices or not grazing all day. I ended up having 4 meals of protein shakes and 1 meal of lentil soup, with lots of fluids in between and an evening snack of SF Jello. I did spend alot of time in the bathroom yesterday (my body, obviously, is not used to all of those fluids!!), but feel a little lighter. I did not exercise yeaterday, although I did talk and think alot about it. :( This morning, I'm meeting a wls friend at a mall to do some walking. I do enjoy that. It's 6deg here today.
My plan for today is the same as yesterday. Lots of warm fluids. Protein shakes. Lentil Soup. I will limit my "eating" to no more than 6 meals. I feel good. I am absolutely positive that attitude is everything and am living in the now, and not in the past. For now, I am in control, I feel good and healthy. Today will be a great day!!

I did not get on the scale this morning, I will wait until tomarrow, that way I will know how the 2 days of liquids works. I didnt sleep well last night so am tired today. Not sure if it was from lack of food or what but I woke up at 2 am and couldnt get back to sleep. Then my stomach started rumlbing and the bean soup I ate yesterday started working, so spent a couple hours dealing with that. At least Im cleaned out. Not sure if I will do bean soup again today. I had 2 protein drinks and 2 cups of bean soup yesterday along with alot of warm and cold liquids. I did give into a handful of almonds(about 10 ) last night, needed the crunch, guess thats not a bad thing, could of been chips. I did get in 2 miles on the treadmill and about 1/2 hour of weights yesterday so I feel good about that. So far today just a cup of coffee and now will do a hot chocolate protein. Hope everyone is doing good, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!. Debra

Jan. 3, 2008 - weight= 181.5
So this is my third day and I went back up a pound. But still down 2 lbs.
I did cardio for an hour and a half last night, drank liquids all day and two protein shakes and a smoothie with protein powder.
Question: Everytime I exericse, my weight goes up the next day, what the heck?! I didn't weight train last night because that causes my weight to go up too! What is the deal? Can anyone tell me why when I exercise my weight goes up the next day?

Down 2# after day 1. I had a strawberry/banana/milk/protein smoothie for breakfast, a Nectar Lemon Tea for lunch and 1 cup of cream of mushroom soup (that's all I had in the house) for dinner.
I did 1/2 hour of a cardio workout yesterday and I really felt sick to my stomach after 20 minutes; not enough calories methinks.
I had yogurt with protein powder for breakfast and plan on at least two Nectars during the day today. On my way home I will stop to get the ingredients for the Black Bean Soup from the 5DPT website (www.5daypouchtest.com/index.html). I plan on some strength training with the band this evening.
I won't have a chance to weigh again until Monday. Should be interesting.

My day is done! Today looked like this:
7am: lots of decaf tea
8:30am protein shake
11am Venti Skinny SF Mocha Latte (160 cals, counted this as a "meal")
decaf coffee, lots of FF broth
3pm protein shake
lots more decaf tea and broth
6pm mug of lentil/barley/veg soup
more tea
8pm just about to have my last shake
I mall-walked with another wls post-op today. It was great to be in a warm place and to have a buddy with the same goals,
I'm happy to say I have not had a "frantic" feeling either day, nor have I obsessed about my next meal. As a matter in fact, I feel a sense of relief that I don't have to make any choices about what my next meal will be.
I will probably be drinking less protein tomorrow and adding soft foods, as the plan suggests. I have cottage cheese, eggs, tuna.....I'll make my plan in the morning. I have a stressful day at work tomorrow, so I need to psyche myself up to stick to my plan.
