Alcohol is loaded with empty calories and if you're drinking as you mentioned in another post, it's not going to matter which surgery you had--the weight will be an issue.

Hey, Patricia. I'm new to the Forum thing, but your post caught my eye. As did some of the responses to your question. You really sound discouraged. I hate that for you, especially because your signature character is so cute and lively and says you love your new life. I hope that is true, at least some of the time, which I suspect it is. It's great that you are reaching out to others on OH. No doubt others have felt the same way throughout their weight loss journey and will offer you their support and encouragement. You have lost 80 pounds so you have been doing something right! It might be a New Year motivator for you to make a list of the things that were most beneficial to you during the time you were losing the most weight and to either start doing them again or add one or two additional things to your routine. It's not uncommon for people to start feeling discouraged around two years out from surgery. So much of the "hype" has worn off, people are making less of a 'fuss' over the changes you've made, and the weight has stopped 'dropping off'. Try celebrating yourself without any external sources. Think of the three things you like most about yourself since losing weight. List five new things you'd like to try this year that you couldn't do 80 pounds ago. Write yourself a Thank You letter for taking such good care of yourself and re-commit to doing the things you have done to lose the weight! Happy New Year!

You and I are what some call LIGHT WEIGHTS. At 4 years out I have gained back some of what I first lost. SOOOOOO I like you have have now ONLY lost 81. I'm upset that I have let old habits back in. Would I change that I have WLS............ NO WAY!!!!!!!! There would have been no way that I could have kept off even those 80 lbs without WLS.  Will I lose again this 20 lb that I've gained?????????? I hope so but even if I don't I'm a lot HEALTHIER and can do a lot more thatn I could 80 lbs ago. I can shop at ANY STORE I want. I'm not limited to just 'the fat lady store or dept'.  I can go out in public and not think that everyone is looking at me because I'm sooooo fat.  I can take my teens to the amusement parks and walk and ride all day with them and not be winded.  I can wear a swim suit and not look like a beached whale.  Like another posted said make a list of all the things you can do NOW that you couldn't 80 lb ago.  We all can get back on track if we want to and go back to basics.  You made the first step in coming here for support.  We can do this together.  Robin
