You might want to get your resting metobolic rate checked. You then will know what your min caloric rate is and adj accordingly. I am 2 1/2 years out. Mine is 1300 min. I lost about 140 lbs and came to a stop. Funny thing is I added more protein and complex carbs to my diet and actually lost another 5 lbs. in the last couple of months. It is not really "over", just needs some adjusting. Hope that helps and don't get discouraged. Sara

Hi Berts, I didn't see an example of what foods you are eating, but do see what you say the nutritionist recommends for carbs. I'm no expert, but I would think that protein for a wls person should be higher than the carbs.  I had been at a standstsill for about 4 months now. I'm further out, about 21 months, but I hit 169 a few months back for about 1 day, and then have bounced between 170 and 175 ever since. It didn't seem to matter what I did. I'd cut way back wouldn't lose, eat more wouldn't lose.  Then about a week ago I thought I'm going back to two protein shakes a day and upping my water.  I for the first year and half or so, did two protein shakes a day in addition to anything I ate, but had slipped (with being able to eat more now) to only one a day and some days none.  Well in this past week with no great effort just the stringent two protein shakes a day and making sure I got at least 64 oz of water in have now gone back to the 169.  I thought and struggled these past few months thinking this was it.  My realistic goal from a start weight of 350 was to get to 170. I had done that, then that was it. I thought no more. But this little change has made a big difference.   Do you eat bread, pasta, rice etc?  I try not to include them in my diet, that may not be right, again I'm no expert, but just feel they aren't really necessary or missed.  I will on occaison have a few tablespoons of rice if I choose to eat Chinese. I pick proteins and the little rice.  It sounds like you are doing a nice amount of exercise which is always good! :) If you can tolerate protein shakes and have stopped those, give that a try and keep the water intake up.  I plan on continuing this and am hoping to lose at least another 15lbs. I'm going to try like heck!! :) Have a great new years weekend. I hope you find something to work for you. :)

Dear Babyruth: Thank you so much for your input. I eat protein first, veggies next (and I know I need more veggies) then maybe a bit of fruit or no more than a tablespoon or so of whatever carb the family is eating. I drink an average of 100 oz of water per day and 2, sometimes 3 protein shakes (I actually LOVE them).  I wonder if I should go to 4?  The nutritionist is supposed to be an expert in WLS, but she has no real answers for me and said that maybe I should do LESS shakes as the 110 calories may be what is stopping my loss. It is good to know that someone has had this same issue and I am not alone. Thanks again and a Happy New Year to you!

Tell someone that you love them!
