i've been maintaining since May and you are doing exactly what i do.  i also strive for 20-25 grams of fiber from those carbs to keep things moving especially now that i've been diagnosed with IBS ~ {.

You'll get a lot of different answers when you ask WLS folks about carbs.  Some surgeons and nuts are super-restrictive, while others are more lax.  I think sometimes it also depends on how much you exercise; the folks I know who are heavy exercisers eat more carbs (myself included).   I'm just over 2 years out and am still losing about 5 pounds per month.  I workout 5-7 times per week (lift weights 2x, cardio 3-5 times for 45-60 minutes per session).  With that exercise routine, I eat about 2000 calories per day w/ 50% from carbs (250 grams), 25% from protein (125 grams), and 25% from fats (55 grams).  A nut might recommend different percentages for you to ensure that you're getting a proper balance.  If you were aiming for a 1200 calorie per day plan, it might look like this: 40% carbs (4 calories per gram x 120 grams = 480 calories) 35% protein (4 calories per gram x 105 grams = 420 calories) 25% fat (9 calories per gram x 33 grams = 297 calories) That's pretty low in terms of fat, which can be hard to maintain long-term.  So you may need to tweak this a bit to find something you can live with.  Anyway, hope some of this is helpful.  Good luck on your continuing journey -  Kellie

Hi Stacey! Congratulations on all of your success!!! I am 3yrs post op and have been successfully maintaining for about 1.5yrs now. Its hard work, but so far its going pretty well with only a few small ups, but right back down again. I do not track my carbs, but have tried to continue to eliminate the "bad carbs" from my daily diet. When I let them back in, I will see a weight gain! B/c of my workout schedule, I do allow the good carbs to give me fuel for the workouts. I also require a high fiber diet due to severe constipation problems. I think you will find varied answers to this just as you will to caloric intake. I eat 1600-1800 daily~higher than some, but again I need it to fuel the workouts. If I'm trying to lose a few then I drop back to 1300-1400cal per day. I went thru alot of trial and error before finding what works the best for me so don't be afraid to change things up to see what happens.  Good Luck and I wish you continued success!!!!!!!
