WLS Grad-Miles to go.....

Hi all! I have made it to “WLS Grad”. I had my 1 year surgiversary November 28th. I am absolutely thrilled with my progress thus far, and yet I am hyper-aware of the fact that if ever there were a starting point-that time is actually now.

One year later-my tool is just that-a tool. A year ago-this tool was the boss. Now-it’s something I use to assist me in my already existing way of life-and my already existing food-plan.  As you all know very well-I am at risk to gain every ounce I have lost right back by way of grazing, ignoring my personal plan, ignoring what we KNOW are the steps for success, ignoring my stress level and even isolation (refusing support). Of course I can list many more-but those are some of my top risks. I know each day is an open book for me to fill. I HAVE to be vigilant. Some days are really hard-others are a bit easier. And time and my willingness to work hard will tell the rest.

I am so very glad you are all here-and you are so willing to share your experience. Experience is really all we have. In the scheme of things-WLS is not that “old”. We all need each other to continue on with being responsible for our surgeries and our education. We are learning new things every single day about our various surgeries.

So-here I am, with all my struggles and personal experiences. I hope I can add something worthwhile to this already great resource. I know for a fact-I will be receiving MUCH-as I have already this year. (You don't think I wasn't already reading you? I like to be prepared!!)

So-here’s to the REST of our lives-to working the tool- and to support.

Thanks! Peace,

Therese

Hi Linda, My food plan is pretty simple (keep in mind it should be tailored to your goals and your surgeon's goals). I eat about a half cup of food per meal 3x per day. Protein first-that way I get full. For example today I had: Breakfast: Half cup Ham and low fat Mozzerella cheese Lunch: Half cup Healthy Choice Turkey dinner (so mostly turkey and a couple bites of carbs and veggies) Dinner: Chicken Parmesian (Almost a cup) Low fat cheese-couple bites of salad too! For snacks I do a couple different things. It depends on how I feel and what TIME OF MONTH it is! LOL! I found a protein bar I really like-so I cut one up into about 7 bite sized pieces and put that in a ziplock and put it in the freezer (Sort of like a snickers bar!). I will grab a couple bite size pieces out a couple times a day-helps me be sure to get in all  my protein Water-I don't go to bed unless I finish my 64 ounces of water. It's a habit now. It's not FUN-but it is a habit! LOL That's really it-it's nothing fancy at all. Oh-and of course all vitamins and supps. Peace, Therese

Therese, Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are such a beautiful woman in so many ways!  It is  JOY  to have you here on the WLS Grads Board! I know that you will bring wonderous things here!  Thank you for being you! I'm so very excited for us all!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Congratulations you've done great!!!

I loved you're post. Such great insight!!! "One year later-my tool is just that-a tool. A year ago-this tool was the boss. Now-it’s something I use to assist me in my already existing way of life". That is so true and I wish more pre ops could see that. Its not a cure or answer, you CAN regain all the weight!

Much continued success, you look beautiful!!
