MILK?
I drink skim milk daily with my vitamins in the AM.
I am over 3 1/2 years post op and holding steady at -160 pounds. Not to say I don't struggle DAILY...but I think it's good for you, for protein and calcium. I used to always use skim milk with my protein drinks, which I stopped when I found out I was preggo near the end of '05 as I was worried about the artificial sweeteners. Hey, that could be my new years' resolution, huh?

See that's exactly what i do- i drink skim milk in the morning when i take my vitamins. For some reason i just got this paranoid thought like, "Maybe i should just drink water with my vitamins to avoid the extra calories from the milk, but then again i know milk is a good source of calcium...

I try to avoid dairy because it makes my tummy hurt, I must have developed some form of lactose intolernce. I do use a very small amount in my protein shakes( maybe 2 tablespoons) because I cant stand the way it looks without it. I have also noticed that unless its cheese products, dairy makes me sleepy. so maybe its my way of dumping :-)
I will tell you, not that I listen to them heheh, but every nutritionist I have talked to says cows milk should only be had by cows :-)
Good Luck

I know alot of post ops do not believe in drinking milk or simply can't tolerate it. I do drink skim milk usually daily~I still have NSA CIB sometimes b/c I have a hard time with breakfast so I use this in place of food so I at least get something into me before noon! I have not had any adverse effects that I've noticed. I have been maintaining my weight for 1.5yrs now (currently 3yrs post op). Anyway, I think you will get different views on this. Talk to your nutritionist, surgeon, pcp, etc and see what they think~although they all seem to have different views too, LOL!!! I think whatever works for you personally is what's best for you! Good Luck!

I personally drink milk every day, and I also eat cheese and light yogurt .... The protein and calcium are so good for us. I'll never believe that dairy products got the majority of us MO, and we do not have to give them up to be at a healthier weight. I'm more afraid of developing osteoporosis than I am in consuming 2-3 servings of dairy a day, along with calcium citrate each day. Supposedly dairy helps us lose weight, although I don't personally believe that one.

cheese mostly for protein, sometimes meat doesn't sit too well. I'm not to into yogert and I stay away from milk. I like it, but don't want to add what I can avoid. I occasionally, like 4 times a year have a sf ice cream, but not into that much either.
does this help or do I need to clarify more?
