Would this cause an RHG reaction?

Yesterday I got to work and felt all jittery and awful like I was bottoming out after some white bread or something. I can't figure out why. Maybe someone can give me a hint or something? I had oatmeal, instant Maple Sugar (Sugar Free) made with soy milk. This wasn't my normal soy milk. It was regular plain, not non-fat plain. I added a 1/4 cup of raisins. Thats all, except my coffee which I have every single morning. I was really shakey and jittery...I took a T of Peanut butter to get my sugar back up but I don't have my blood tester with me (and no strips anyway) so I didn't test to see what levels I was at.

This morning I had my regular Malto Meal made with the same plain (not Non-fat) soy milk and raisins. And my coffee..I had a slightly less jittery reaction. Sort of like "I need to get moving" so I cleaned my bathroom and did some chores around the house...No more of that feeling once I got moving to get the "ants out of my pants".

Was it the Oat Meal or the Soy milk? I'm leaning toward the soy milk cuz absolutely everyone says Oatmeal is good for RHG...Or am I just smoking something weird?

Well, as you know, everyone is different.  I can't eat raisins and I can't tolerate whole milk/whole milk products.  Both make me dump big time.  This could be what happened to you.  If you have the same thing for bfast again and try it with your non-fat plain milk without the raisins then you should be able to tell if that is the problem.  Sounds like you reacted a little better today by excluding the raisins.  Let us know...

I'm sorry. I didn't EXCLUDE the raisins. The only two things that I did differently yesterday was the Oatmeal and the new soy milk (regular, not non-fat). This morning I had the same milk, same raisins but not the oat meal. I'm thinking it's the soy milk. But you think it might be dumping? Usually dumping has dumping in there somewhere...I barf big time but it could have been a mild dumping. Jitters to me says sugar...I'm grasping at straws here.

All I know abuot RHG is that sometimes it happens if I stare at food too long!   Really, I have had it happen on a protein bar, the same brand I have everyday.  Just out of the blue for no reason.  I do know that RHG (as the REACTIVE type) happens after food and typically 1-2 hours later not immediately which is how dumping usually happens.  I can't eat raisins though as they have too much sugar for my body. Thanks for the responses...Tomorrow I'll try the Malto Meal with a banana and see if it happens again. If it does, it's the soy milk.

Okay. No raisins today...Banana instead and no jitters or sugar "rush"...Hmmm. So all of a sudden, raisins don't like me. Maybe it's the combination of the soy milk and the raisins. Either way, I know. thanks for the input, guys.... Dawn

This might sound weird but because of weather conditions, different batches of raisins have different sugar content so you might try cutting back on your raisins to 1/8 cup or switching to dried cranberries.

Great idea. I'll give cranberries a try...I love those things.
