How are you guys gonna handle all the yummy cookies (it has already started today with someone bringing me a tin can of them!), candy, cakes, and eggnog?   YUM!!! Do you guys give in, or what? And if you do, how do you strategically do it?

I do allow myself some treats along the way, but try not to go off the deep end. I find if I am picky and chose the things I REALLY enjoy, take the time to savor them, etc then I don't go too crazy. I am also very careful about what I eat and make every bite count~especially work on getting in plenty of protein. I am the type that needs to let myself have some b/c if I don't then I will have it all at some point. Anyway, it worked for me last year so I'm sticking with it this holiday season. I also am sure to get in my workouts even on days that are hectic or when I don't really feel like doing it.  Good LUck to everyone during the holidays!!!!!!

Grazing is the anti Christ! What helps for me is to stay on track with my meals. If I'm full I tend to stay away from the snacks because there is "No room in the Inn". But,  I will have a treat or 2, but only that.  Just to quench my taste.  Then I need to adjust somthing within that day. Yesterday it got to be too much here at the office so I ran to my pc and jumped on the chat to get me past my urge!  Sometimes we just have to walk away for a bit and do something else. I know it's been said b4, but everything in moderation! Season's Greetings, not Eatings! Tmac

I couldn't have said it better than Tracy or Tammy.  I indulge, in great moderation.  How I handle the goodies at work, I won't eat ANY of them until I am heading out the door to leave.  If I take a cookie or a small piece of chocolate earlier in the day, then I am craving more the rest of the time.  I can have one treat and leave, therefore, can't eat any more that day. At home it's a little harder.  I normally don't have junk in the house, but when the daughters are home for the holidays, I want their Christmas season to be like times past, so we have the homemade cookies and such.  I don't want to get sick and ruin their holiday for them, so it helps keep me from eating too much of the sugary stuff.  I intend to keep a close eye on my weight, continue to work out, and keep all things in moderation.  It's worked for me in the last two Christmases. Don't panic everyone...I have been pondering this for weeks!  I tried 4 or 5 sugar free egg nog recipes, with and without eggs.  Let me know if you need one or several.  I have also perfected the art of the sugar free pumpkin pie.  Candy is a big no no, ESPECIALLY the sugar free stuff :-), but that's never been my vice.  I made sugar free sugar cookies a couple of weeks ago and am not planning on telling anyone that there's nothing but splenda in their baked goods.

I know enough about myslef to know that if I say No to everything it will turn into me EATING everything. I just make sure it is something I really want and if I dont like it I spit it out. I know its gross but I have even been know to chew up a cookie and spit it out. Not sure if not swallowing really doesn anything but it makes me feel better.  I also can not use the D word (diet) . It sends my mind into an obsessive compulsive drive for sweets. I told myself on Monday that I was gonna diet so I could get to my goal and then by 10 am I was eating taffy....DONT EVEN LIKE THE STUFF  but someone brought it in...Man I am sick sick sick Good luck to us all Diana RNY 9/17/03 360/196/forever aiming at 180

Hi, I have to truly pray to get through the holidays. This is my first Christmas post op.  It has not been THAT bad, and I did really well for Thanksgiving.  I don't plan to eat a whole lot of sweets, they are my weakness so I must be careful. I am also afraid because I havent been working out and I don't want to put on weight or even stall my weight loss just for the next few weeks. I find that planning my lunches and snacks really helps, also keeping busy so that I am not bored is what will be key for me.  I have been bringing my breakfast and lunch from home and then I eat a pretty good healthy protein-forward dinner so I hope that it will stay that way. Good luck to you and to all of us!! Angela

It is so hard for me. I love to eat still. I especially love to eat junk. I like the wait until you are walking out the door before taking something tip. It sounds like it would work for me. So far I have been sooooooooo lucky with my weight. I am continuing to record everything I eat and my weigh has stayed under 155 = my goal for 22 weeks, YEAH!! I know that my junk food habit will catch up with me some day, so I have to figure out a way to get it in check!! My dessert on Thanksgiving sent me into a 2 hour nap so I am going to try to make better choices on Christmas.

Starting weight: 262   Current weight: 152.2 Goal weight: under 155 - I keep going over - UGH!!!
weeks maintaining goal: 1
