My favorite Detour bars don't seem as good as they used to...  looking for other ideas. Please tell me what you like! Thanks! Laina

If I have to eat a protein bar, I choose Snicker Marathon with 28 grams of protein.  Sometimes I only eat half because they are dense and heavy.

PowerBar Protein Plus.  I get them at Super Walmart.  Depends on which flavor variety you get, but they have about 23 grams of protein in a bar, and quite often, I can't eat a whole bar at once.   They do contain sugar alcohols, which do not bother me at all, but something to keep in mind if they bother you.

Adkins Advantage Carmel Chocolate Nogout is the only one I can tolerate.  It has only about 11 grams of protein, but it does not have any sugar alcohol. Patricia

I am a protein bar aficionado for sure!  They are not a chore for me to eat as I enjoy them! There are the 'crispy granola' types usually made from soy nuggets.  In this category, my favorites are Atkins Morning start breakfast chocolate chip bar.  It's a tiny thin w/ 13 grams of protein.  I also enjoy their regular size crispy types of bar which also come in the chocolate chip.  Those have 17 grams of protein.  Atkins bars are good because they don't have sugar alcohols.  But...by far my favorite and most often used bar you can get at Walmart in a box of 5 for $4 something or individually.  Our CVS sells them too, but not by the box.  But, every few weeks they have a buy one get one free deal.  It's made by Pure Protein and is quite small.  It's chocolate outside with chewy center.  I love the chocolate peanut butter and the chewy cookie dough ones best.  I go through a couple of boxes a week.  Do give these a try. These are great because they are quite small, are dense like some of the chewy ones and have 20 grams of protien.  You can also get the large size version at GNC and they have 32 grams of protein.   I have tried the PowerCrunch cookies and cream and it was good...wafer texture. Ones I hate:  EAS AdvantEdge bars...too much sugar alcohols, the same goes for the South Beach Diet bars.

I second your recommendation of the Pure Protein bars!  If you have a BJ's membership, they sell the chocolate peanut butter flavor by the case.  I also like their blueberry crumb and strawberry crumb flavors; yum!  I don't eat protein bars every day, but I keep them around for when I'm running errards, or if I'm low on protein for the day.  These are so good that it's almost like eating a candy bar; very enjoyable and delicious!   Kellie

My fav and one I don't dump on is the Power Crunch bar.  If you buy them usually at Vitamin Shoppe its 17.99 a box, but if you buy them online they are only 13.00 a box, huge savings.   Huggs Debbiie

Supreme (full size bar, 30g protein, 6g carb), tastes like $100,00 bar

Rockin' Roll nutty peanut, I think it's called. Lil bit smaller bar, I think 2g carb, 2? g protein. Tastes precisely like a PayDay

I cut the bar in half, slide it back into the sleeve and put it in a ziploc bag and eat half when I can't decide what to eat or if something is calling my name and I shouldn't answer.
