Going to give Oz plan a shot.

Hi all you grads, I don't post often, but I am doing this for my own accountability. Last week was watching the Discovery Heath channel and got into Dr. Oz, YOU on a diet. I found it very interesting and encouraging even though I found myself crying 1/2 way thru it because all of these people needing to loose weight were doing it by themselves without the "tool" I have been blessed enough to be an owner of. SO!, it's time to get off the pot and get back to the basics and get to that goal of 160. Enough with the honeymoon BS and the excuses.  If these folks can do this so can I, what a fool I have been to pity myself and not get off the couch! I am 3 yrs post op, never made it to goal and as most of us, had a 20lb bounce back. I went online to the Realage site for the YOU program and I am going to give the 1st week a go.   The plan is flexible enough to be taylored to our low sugar program.  I think the pouch test is a great kick in the butt, so I think this is a great way to keep up the loss and something that can work for a long term. I travel alot for work and have to pack my lunch every day and there is recipies that suit that ligestyle. Wish me luck fellow grads!

Kick in the Butt!  Thanks Tammy for just coming out and saying "get it together" you didn't dance around about it and sometimes we need that !  I am going to ck out the Dr. Oz diet plan...though I know what I need to do.  Once a dieter always a dieter or is it an addiction...it seems as though everything is these days?  I am still trying to get use to staying around the same weight because I have never been this thin so what do thin people go through....does their weight go up and down?  So this has been my focus for a while and I still don't know.  Take care - sorry for the bunny trail!  Take care and thanks again.

You hit the nail on the head.  We have never been this "thin" before so it is so easy to be OK with where we are because it's better than where we have been. Let's call it a lifestyle instead of a diet, yeah I agree, once a dieter always a dieter. So, maybe just a play on words, but I think the D word sometime carries so much weight in itself that if we just don't use it we'd loose 10 right off the bat! It really didn't help when my Dr. told me not to beat myself up so much, that look at everything you've accomplished so far, but for me that is the seed of laziness.  I have a hard time to pause, find joy in the moment and then pick up the torch for the next leg.  The pause ends up being a stall.   So back on my lifestyle horse and gidddyup!

Congratulations for taking action!  I look forward to reading of your success. I am a big believer in the idea that we will always "diet"--or watch our weight--or eat healthy--or whatever words you prefer.  But then again, I think that is the reality of everyone except a few genetic exceptions.  Most healthy people watch what they eat and keep their weight within  small range.   The difference for me know is that I feel my body is working with me in my efforts.  So what I do can make a difference--that I can keep my weight down.  But I also know genetics, age, life, etc. can work against me, so I do have to make good choices--for life.  And having the pouch can really assist me in that.  So I too am grateful for it.   Keep us posted, Sally

Today was day one.  Took the 3 flights of stairs to my desk, had the breakfast, snack and lunch.  Seems to be going well.  Alot of fruit, vegies and fiber.  I walked my 30 minutes last night and gave myself a !   I was concerned about the fruit but I seem to be able to handle the natural sugars ok. Its a start at least!

Wonderful start.  I think I'll check out the plan.  I don't get in many veggies as the protein usually does it for me.  Well, I do allow myself some starches!  I don't dump with sugars, but I can tell when I have too much.  I ate a lot of watermelon this summer but don't do as well with apples. Keep up the good work. Sally
