You aren't the only Ambien girl, Summer.  I did stuff in my sleep also.  What I did most, however, was EAT.  I sleep-ate, sleep-cooked, sleep-ordered stuff off the TV, and made my kids fetch me cookies.  Oh boy!  I would starve myself all day and then eat all night in my sleep.  Never, ever again for that awful medicine.

I make myself warm protein by heating an already-mixed SF Instant Breakfast.  You can't make it hot, but it you mix it in cold milk (I use FF soy or almond milk) and then nuke it just a little, it's very satisfying.

It sure does, Summer!  I'm sipping a nice warm protein chocolate right now.  I love your avatar.  Is it Shiva? Cheryl

I lived in India for a year and became quite familiar with Hindu gods.  I am not quite flexible enough for yoga, although I'd love to learn more.  I have a few Pilates tapes, but I have mainly stuck to my fit ball and the exercise bike. Cheryl

Although I can't speak on the Ambien, I can say that this summer I had a terrible time with insomnia and late night cravings due to Crystal Light MIX.  I could not sleep for more than a few hours.  However, when I changed to the RTD 4-packs, which are sweetened with Splenda, it stopped in less than 2 weeks!  I'm convinced that regular consumption of aspartame-containing products did it to me.  Although I still enjoy the mixes at times, I don't make a habit of drinking them daily. As for the late nites, I have a chai tea (Celestial Seasonings Sweet Coconut & Vanilla Ginger are great and easy to find!) with lf milk.  It's got a bit of bite so I know I'm "eating" something, but it's also relaxing and doesn't leave me wanted to scramble some eggs and cheese at 11pm!!

I take Ambien now too. If I DONT take it, I eat several times a night, and I dont sleep but a couple hours. It was Lunesta that made me hungry within an hour of taking it.  I was absolutely starving!  Weird side effect. I have heard horrible Ambien stories...I guess I have been lucky. I would say that you might be able to mix sugarfree hot cocoa (make it hot first) with either the non-flavor powder or the chocolate flavor powder protein.  Not sure how good it will taste or if it will curb the erges, but might be worth a try? Good luck!! Anne

Fortunately, I've never had any food missing fwhile taking Ambien, so I'm not eating in my sleep.  My son swears that we've had a few conversations that I have no memory of and the dog had different food in his bowl one morning.  He's a very smart dog but somehow I don't think he did that by himself!  I just can't manage to give it up though.  My brain just starts going so fast, I think about everything that stresses me out, until I just want to scream!  I used to take a generic OTC sleep aid (Tylenol PM without the Tylenol), but my Doc said Ambien was a better alternative. I never thought about Ambien being an appetite simulator though.  Hopefully the extra protein at night  will help.  Thanks for all your great suggestions! Michele

I have this same problem!!  Sometimes I wonder when I wake up in the morning why in the heck I actually got up at 1am and actually ate something.  One thing that helped me came from someone at my doctor's office.

She made up different cups in her refrigerator with different drinks...one with tea, one with water, and then other sugar free liquids.  That way if they're already made up, you can just grab it and go.  A lot of times after I drink a whole cup of water, I get that full feeling and that makes me want to lay down and fall asleep.   This might help you?!
