Allergic to Infed and Ferrlecit. What else is out there?

I'm still working on getting my iron infusions done.  I had two anaphalctic reactions to Infed after my initial test dose was fine.  Let week, I had a histimine reaction to Ferrlecit that landed me at the ER.  Someone mentioned to me a few weeks ago about a third type of infusion that worked for them.  I believe it started with a "V".  Does anyone know that name of it so that I can ask my doctor about it tomorrow?  With a ferritin level of 2, I need to get this resolved soon.  thanks so much. Hi Jen, Sorry to hear you are still not doing any better. I had InFed after allergic reaction to Ferrilcet. I did a quick online search and found this one, Venofer (Iron Sucrose).

I have never heard of this one but it does start with "V". Let us know what happens. I am having success with InFed, got my last fill up in March and still holding at 152. My iron had been so low ( not readable "0")  and this is the first success I have had at being normal. Hang in there until they find one and hopefully it won't be too long. Ginny

Jen I am sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your iron infusion. i am the one who told you a while back. That my hemotigist(SP) used. Venofer iron infusion on me. I had a total of 12 of them. The one reason he used them is because. I have major drug reactions to most every drug out there. I wish you the best of luck and that they find one that you. Do not have a reaction to . you will be in my prayers in thought Taichi

Thank you both so much.  Venofer is the one I was thinking of.  I'm going to ask about that one today.  Three reactions in three weeks has not been fun.  I'll keep you posted.

I'll be praying the Venofer works for you Jen.  I just got my labs back from my recent infusion and all looks good.  Hoping I can keep up there with the Tender Iron and can avoid needing another infusion.

I had a similar reaction to the Ferrlecit, but Venofer worked great for me.  I did 10 rounds with it with no problems.  That said, a year later my ferritin level is still between 8-10.  :(
