I'm sold.........
on the 5 day pouch test. I can really tell the difference in the size of my pouch and the carb cravings are gone. Of course the "head" cravings are still there but I'm doing well avoiding those urges. And the best part is I have lost 15 lbs. Unfortunatly they are 15 that I had regained. But I'm much more hopeful that I can get to goal. If you're considering trying this I would encourage it.
Have a great day!

Straight from the 5DPT web site from the FAQ:
What happens after the 5 days?
After the 5 Day Pouch Test is when things get exciting. Having successfully broken a carb-cycle, regained a feeling of control over the surgical gastric pouch and possibly losing a few pounds one is ready for re-entry into a compliant way of eating. This means focusing on protein rich meals, observing the liquid restrictions and avoiding starches, particularly processed carbohydrates and slider foods. Three meals a day should be two-thirds protein, one third healthy carbohydrate in the form of low-glycemic vegetables and fruits. Consumption of whole grains is not forbidden, but should be limited to one serving a day.
If necessary between meal snacks should be protein dense. Natural food protein is great including hard-cooked eggs, lean low-sodium deli meats, and limited servings of nuts or low-fat cheese. In addition, protein bars or beverages may be used for between meal supplementation.
Patients should drink at least 64 ounces of water a day and take their prescribed supplemental vitamins. Caffeinated beverages should be limited to one or two a day and carbonated drinks are discouraged. Alcoholic beverages should be limited to one per day or less.
I've linked to the whole FAQ section, and it will probably answer most questions about what happens after, the whys behind it, etc....-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Jean, No, I only did it for 5 days. Today I had oatmeal for breakfast, I cooked 1 serving, 1 cup of water to 1/2 cup quick oats, and could only eat half. I'm thinking I'll need to push the fiber after the 5dpt. I didn't have lunch, but I did munch on some beef jerky, I was busy running errnads. for supper i had 3-4 oz meatloaf made with very lean beef, a few brocoli spears and a few slices of pickled beets. I'm not sure why but I haven't really had much of an appetite since starting the test
(thankfully). I'm shocked at the amount I lost and I would have been thrilled even if it was less, I'm just so glad I can tell when my pouch is full again! I really needed this as I had regained those 15 lbs in the past few months due to stress induced self sabotage eating....lol I bought land and am now fighting with a selectmans board and town over zoning issues
. I would recomend this to all post ops who are stuck or have regained, what have you got to lose? I just kept telling myself if it didn't work it was only 5 days out of my life. Best of luck to you.

Hi Tracy, Thanks. I'm glad this has also helped you. I was really starting to feel like a complete failure. This has given me the boost I needed to get back on track and reach my goal.
Best wishes!!
