I'll be 2 years post-op next Thursday and time to time I think we all tend to think we've suddenly become normal. I mean we meet new people who just assume we've always looked like this and can eat whatever. Tonight I went out with my in-laws who live 1400 miles away and have only seen me 3 times in the nearly two years since my WLS. This was the first time they've been to our home since my surgery. They don't have Marble Slab Creamery where they live and it's one of their must visit places when visiting us. I went along even though I never eat ice cream. I must've been feeling daring or temporarily insane because I had 4 teaspoons of my husband's. I dumped like mad for over an hour. Finally after throwing up 3x, I had it all out of me. I have no voice left, but I feel good again. It's good to be reminded that the tool still works!
Blessings, Jennifer

Ahhhh - yes, I also once had a moment of temporary insanity at a birthday party and attempted a few bites of ice cream and, like you, quickly learned that my tool is still there, fully functioning. Lesson learned.

Ice cream has the same effect on me even 6 years post op.  Every once in a while I give in and have a tiny bowl and I pay for it for serveral hours after.  Memory of that feeling keeps me away from ice cream for several months.   Now if only chocolate had the same effect!!!

To attain excellence, you must care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical.

I paid the price last night too....got into some of Parker's Halloween candy...oh my it was not fun and so not worth it. You know we have Marble Slab and I have never been there.  Heard it is wonderful....guess I will just have to believe it and not try it.   Congrats on your soon to be anniversary.  It is so hard to believe it has been two years.  Mine will be here in December.  Best two years of my life!!! Have a great weekend,  Hugs,  Jodi
