I'm new to theboard, but have a friend taking Devrom.   I poked around and found the information you talk aboout and found that the study subjects were taking mega doses....gram quantities (100x the dose) of it which instigated such side effects.  I also confirmed it by calling the company regarding this.  My friend is very satisfied with it and I haven't had WLS but have an occaisional stinky episode and it worked well for me too.  Just my wanted to express my findings to the board.  =)

Thanks a bunch, lot of info here the charcol I didn't know about but wondered if it absorbed the good as well as the bad myself so good thing I found out. Lactaid wouldn't be a problem, that would be good for me cause I'm having trouble keeping weight on so that woud be a good thing actually. Gonna try that! I do have a lot of gas I eat eggs everyday I may need to change that, but they are good protien. Don't know anything about probotics may have to check into that and the flagyl sounds like what I need definatly. Thank you so much again, I didn't have this much of a problem until I got a blockage and they removed alot more of my intestine back to back surgery in 10 days. Thats been my issue ever since before with the regular surgery (RNY) wasn't as bad, I still stunk but not as bad. Thanks again! Marti

Definitely don't try the internal charcoal w/o Doctor's ok.  It adds to the malabsorption and I've been told not to use it. Probiotics like acidophilus work for some. Devrom works for some. Chlorophyll works for some. I have the charcoal pillow and carry a small spray of perfume in my rear pocket.  I spray the air and my butt (b/c the smell stinks to my jeans, I find) when I have to pass gas.

If you are not worried about putting on a few pounds, I have found these enzymes to be helpful... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001OP2MG/ref=wl_it_dp/104 -0099436-2486320?ie=UTF8&coliid=IZ7M7MYD4B6FC&colid=DK2WDOAD ULB2 They increase your absorption, and that helps with the gas in some people.
