HELP NEEDED ASAP!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT COVER POST OP BARIATRIC PATIENTS? I'M LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUAL NOT GROUP AS I DON'T WORK.
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I would think that any insurance company that offers regular maintenance type health coverage benefits would cover your needs after surgery; as it's just routine health care maintenance that you need to stay healthy. I personally see my PCP for my post-op care, perhaps you could do the same. Using a PCP for your care might be easier to get everything covered without needing any special referrals and such to a bariatric surgeon.

THANKS, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT MOST INSURANCES DON'T WANT TO TOUCH ANYONE WHO'S ALREADY HAD GASTRIC BYPASS, IT'S SO STUPID, HERE WE ARE HAVING SOMETHING PREVENTATIVE AND THEY SEE IT AS A RISK!! WE WERE MORE AT RISK BEFORE SURGERY - GO FIGURE!!

Ahhhh gotcha, so they're seeing this as some sort of pre-existing condition or something? Odd, since you've already had the surgery and the co-morbidities you had before are most likely gone.

True but the problem is... after.. you are harder to treat if you have any problems. and those that result from this surgery are not simple... I can tell you if you don't have a group health insurance like that thru work.. you are are going to have a hard time getting individual after this surgery... and if you do happen to get it.. this will probably end up be a pre-existing condition if there was any laps in your coverage.
Good luck... I know we all need insurance and it is a mean game they play...
