What happens after the 5 day pouch test, my nut doesnt recommend it.
Thank you Bob, and everyone else for there response. I feel like you do Bob, we have a tool that we have been abusing and need to get back to basics. Its easy to stray because weve all done so well and think it wont come back on but it does. I know that I really need to control my eating and I am going to do it by getting back to the basics. Thanks Debra
I think some are looking at the 5 day pouch test as a diet. It is not, all it is intended to do is get you back to seeing if everything is working alright. Get back to the basics, clean your system and to get all of us which have strayed a little back to maybe eating right again. It has worked great for me. Love you all Bruce
I do not look at it as a diet either but rather a fresh start complete with "de-carbing" which totally worked for me. Anytime I gain more than 5 pounds I will do it again to get a handle on the basics again.
If you are an educated beliver of the ideas on Kaye Bailey's site it would be hard NOT to do the 5DPT. Man, I am telling you what...those simple carbs just slide right down and are readily absorbed. It's that time of year to be tempted with Halloween candy and it won't stop until New Year's! FORGET THAT! I am getting fanatical and swearing off that crap NOW.
Ok, so some of you posters who only come out of the woodwork to set us "fad dieters" back on the straight and narrow check this out: If out of control eating one day and going back to basics works for you GREAT! Congrats! I am envious. But for me and many, many others on this forum it is not that easy. Often times we need some other type of intervention such as a "fad" to propel us forward to getting back to basics. At the end of the 5DPT all you do is incorporate servings of lower carb veggies and fruits and a serving or so of whole grains. How is THAT a fad? those ARE the basics.
Well, I am off to the gym now but just thought I would share my convictions and reasoning behind my 5DPT.
WE ARE ALL GETTING BACK TO BASICS...SOME JUST TAKE A DIFFERERENT ROUTE!
I recently read an article written by a doctor (wish I could find it to point you to the link). Anywho, he said that yes, yo-yo dieting isn't good for your body. BUT its better to yo-yo diet off the pounds to keep the weight down than to just keep eating and eating until you gain 20, 30, 40 pounds over a few years. So, do what you think is best but also keep in mind what works for you is what you need to do.

one thing that is key here is that kaye has btdt and is sound in her advice- she walks the walk and does not profess to replace anyone's dr or nut- her thoughts are much better taken in context - ie thru her newsletters etc...too many ppl are jumping on the pouch test bandwagon who possibly shouldn't have had any type of wls in the first place- then there are those like you and me who know that those bad carbs can creep back in thru the window if we don'****ch out! please continue to cheerlead!!!!
my take on the 5 day test is that it is to simply decarb and get jumpstarted back to basics...jmho. not to be a "way of life" to continue to yoyo! i never was coordinated enough to make a yoyo go !!!!!!
