What happens after the 5 day pouch test, my nut doesnt recommend it.
I am thinking about doing the 5 day pouch test also but called my surgeons office today and the dietician said to just go back to the basics. She said "long term" its better because once you start eating again the weight could come back on. Has anyone had that happen? and do those cravings and appetite slowly but surley come back????
Hi, Debra! I agree wholeheartedly w/your nut! I did this several months back. Yes, while I was on it, I lost about 10 pounds - BUT, as your nut said, as soon as you go back to eating normally (and I mean normally, not doing "bad" stuff!), it all came back. I wish we could all just do what we're supposed to and not become so obsessed w/the number on the scale! (And I'm including myself in this!!!) Good luck on this long, torturous journey!!

DEBRA-I can only speak for myself, but the the 5 day pouch retraining GOT me "back to basics". It helped me break the carb cycle, etc aand gave me back the "full feeling"-after 5 years post op. I did it over 2 months ago and have not regained anything-except self esteem. Have your nutritionist call me..lol

We Can Do Hard Things
I just did it last week so I don't really know for sure if the weight will come back or not~It has been long enough. I didn't do it to lose weight, I did it b/c I wanted to see if I could actually feel that restriction in my pouch again and yes I do feel it now. This is something that I would consider doing from time to time if needed to get me back in the right mindset. I emailed Kaye about doing it again some day and she said yes it can be done and you can even just do days 3-5 (so skip the 2 liquid days) just to get you back on track~so basically that is getting back to basics, but it gives you some guidelines to follow which is always helpful for me.

I am on day 4, I spoke to my Nut before I started, and I spoke with her again today. I was also concerned about what to do when the five days were over, She has guided and supported me in this. She has sent me information for moving gently into eating like we were suppose to all along. My sugar drops so I have to eat about six times a day, she is also guiding me in that. If anyone would like the info. that she sent me, just leave me your email and I will send it to you.
