My doc's office called & he wants me to drink 2 bottles of quinine water a day and take Slow Mag as directed.  I'm on my way to the store to pick both up.   I'll read your post on mag.   I need all the info I can get. Thanks! Vickie J.

If the slow mag is timed release, it may notwork for you. Also, if it's mag oxide, it may not work for cramping, but might work to loosen things up a bit, if you catch my drift.

In essence, mag citrate goes into the blood stream, but mag oxide never leaves the gut (hence the laxative action)

I had a hard time finding the Slow Mag, but eventually did.  The Slow Mag is a Magnesium Chloride  w/ Calcium.  Each tablet contains 64 mg. of Magnesium (dose is 2 tablets).  Tablets also contain 106 mg calcium & 186 mg chloride.  The ingredients list: Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate, calcium carbonate (a waste for me I know) and Magnesium Sterate (near the end of the listing). When I asked the pharmacist if this was a time released product he said yes.  I asked about the effects with RNY and he said that even I had bypassed apx. 4' of the small intestines (120cm), there were still many feet left to absorb it.  He said I probably wouldn't get the full benefit but I would still absorb most of it. I'm on my way to the doctor to get blood drawn to see if my potassium is low.  Thanks for your input & advice about the supplements - you are sooo much better educated in this area than I and I really appreciate your williingness to share your expertise!  I"ll let you know what I find out from the labs. Thanks again! Vickie J.

I recently discovered something to make cramps go away instantly, and it really works for me. If you can get the body part that is cramping into the shower under some real ho****er, some sort of pulsating would be even better, it stops the cramp in its tracks. My unprofessional theory is a cramp is a tightening of a muscle, the heat makes it expand and loosen up. Hope it works for you like it does for me.  Take care,  Jan
