Trouble eating today

Today I'm having trouble eating. I took some Calcium Citrate tablets. Those things are horse pills! They're 400 mcg per two tablets and they are huge. I figured to spread them out, one at a time throughout the day to make up about 1200 mcg with my calcium carbonate chews but I swallowed one between my protein bar snack and my yogurt snack and an hour later tried to drink some iced tea...Funny feeling like something is plugging up the pipes in there. Now I'm nibbling on lunch (pork stew and carrots) and still getting that plugged up pipes feeling. I called my nutritionist but she's not in till tomorrow when I'll be in a meeting..So it's Friday when I'll get to ask her about the carbonate/citrate debate. Dr Pehrsson said carbonate was fine but all this site says citrate is the ideal. I'm afraid to let it go and then end up with problems because you can't correct those problems after you have those problems...Sorry for the rambling.

Ya need the citrate hon.  I buy the citrate with D from Walmart and they dissolve in water in less than 2 minutes (I tested it!  ), so try drinking some water to see if that won't get it to dissolve and/or flush on through - hopefully your pills will dissolve quickly.   Do you have any Coromega?  I've read that someone had something stuck and they ate like 5 or 6 of the Coromega packets and that was enough to loosen up and dislodge everything.  Wouldn't hurt to try it if you have some Coromega on hand.

I got these at Walmart...I'm used to taking the chews and this is a huge pill and I have to take two of those for a HALF dosage...So I took one this morning with my hot coffee and sandwiched this second one between my protein bar and my yogurt snack...I waited an hour and tried to drink some iced tea and it's not feeling right...I quit the iced tea and tried some warm lunch...Still not right but feeling alittle better after an hour of that... I was afraid to chew them or anything. so I never tried dissolving them in water...Can you do that with these? If so...A nice hot cup of tea would take care of the problem..

I don't normally dissolve mine in water to take them - I did it as an experiment to see if hard pills you swallow dissolve quickly with just plain water.  I wanted to see if I needed chewables, or if pills would dissolve quickly enough and get dissolved.  That's what my experiment was for.   The pills I take are huge as well.  I don't have a problem taking them - but if I did, I would probably do chewables.  The pills I take are 630 mg of calcium citrate per pill + 400 IU of Vitamin D.

Sorry - Coromega is an emulsified Omega 3 supplement.  It's in a form that we post-ops can actually absorb and utilize.  It's awesome.  I just started it not long ago, but before I ordered it, I asked on a graduates email list I'm on if anyone took it and several responded and everyone said they absolutely loved it and the results from taking it, and highly recommended it.   You can do a google search to find it; and you could possibly find it locally at a health food store too.  I get the chocolate orange flavor.  It's very good.  Not fishy at all.   Because it's an oil, I guess taking several packets at once (it comes in packets the size of like ketchup packets) it acted like a "lube job" to lubricate the stuck food for the person I was referring to to unstick the food in question for them; thus my suggestion to you.

I was just thinking, I do take an Omega 3 Fish Oil tablet in the mornings...Should this happen again could i break that open and slurp it? or is it nasty? Probably should just get the coromega instead. I think I'll be by GNC this weekend. I think I'll look into the Citrate chews and forget this whole tablet nonsense...Sheesh..

It's my understanding that we do not absorb fats well since our RNY surgery.  Thus why we should not have pills in gel caps, such as most over the counter Vitamin E and fish oil caps come in.  We won't properly absorb them in that form.  Coromega is an emulsified oil - which is the consistency of pudding.  It's in a form that we can absorb and get benefit from.  If you are just wanting to lubricate the lodged food loose, then sure - open up some fish oil caps drink those (major yuck I'm sure!  ), and that would do the job.  However, if you're really wanting to get the most benefit from the oil itself, I'd try the Coromega.

YOu think they would have that at GNC? I'm set to go mall shopping this weekend with my daughter...I'm thinking an hour or more in there might be just the ticket...

Yes, they just might have it at GNC.  Some do carry it I believe - certainly worth checking out.
