pain in stomach and indigestion
I am 17 months out and have done fantastic. I went back to drinking coffee. I can't seem to find the answer as to whether it is okay for "us" to be coffee drinkers after surgery. Could the coffee be making my stomach hurt along with indigestion? I must admit that I have been drinking too much coffee throughout the day and the pain and indigestion is new. Any one have any advice for me? Thanks.
I do drink decaf coffee in moderation without any problem but maybe you should stop it to see if that is what is irritating your stomach, it could be the culprit. If that doesn't make any difference I would talk with your doctor, maybe something else is going on and they can recommend something to treat it.
Take care
Sher

Pain in stomach could be a duodenal ullcer or it could be gallbladder. Would need more information as to the pain, is it just after drinking coffee, or when lying down? Is it sharp and continuous or does it come and go.? What is the level of pain? Does drinking milk stop the pain, does your stomach hurt if you press on it? Nausea with the pain?
These answers will help determine the cause, and as always if concerned, call your doc. Perhaps your body is just reacting to the coffee, but it could be something else.
I had both gall bladder and ulcer. pains were pretty intense, but when previcid was started, it took the excess acid burn away.

I drink almost a whole pot of coffee every morning and it's fine on my stomach. I got indigestion a few weeks ago and it freaked me out becasue I haven't had it in the 2+ years since my surgery. I think my indigestion was stress related, I am have a lot of pressure at work PLUS I am getting married in 2 and a half weeks.
Do you have any added stress in your life that could be causing the indegestion? I took zantac and it didn't help my indigestion, neither did TUMS. Once I tried on my wedding dress and it fit and I looked good, I felt a lot better.
Hope you feel better!
