WHY......

Can someone explain to me why all offices have to have so much junk food around???? These people all complain about weight, just about everyone is on some kind of diet and yet in both offices on either side of me the sales person has a candy dish. The receptionist has one and every Friday a CSR brings in dunkin donut holes.....Even my production department has a secret candy supply draw...... I am going crazy. Now we start the holiday season when there is food around from Halloween to New Years..... I would love it if someone just brought in a big chunk of protein right now...... oh well donna

Donna! I KNOW! Eventhough I am a stay-at-home mom now I clearly remember those days in the office of endless freaking snacking and sugar fests!  Ok...this is why they do it. There has to be a "fun factor" to work. People don't want to be there a lot of times so they bring crap (food) to ease the pain and to add a little punch of so called fun to the routine.  In a nut shell, this contributed a lot to my weight problem when I quit smoking. Instead of smoking at lunch I would sit around the office and nosh on all the crap there! Ugh...I totally feel your pain. Hang in there!  Molly PS, just for the heck of it, bring a stash of Power Crunch Bars, Beef Jerky, or something and put THAT in a candy dish! LOL!

Oh Yes! I am a sahm too, but always have to have some stuff around for dh and the kids. I've been dreading Halloween - New Years~it is ALL about food!! I bought Halloween candy yesterday and got everything that I don't like so I wouldn't even be tempted! Last year I dropped 10lbs on purpose right before Christmas b/c I knew I would be eating cookies and candy, having a few drinks, etc. I gained it back, but was glad that I did that b/c then at least I didn't "really" gain 10lbs~it worked  so I'll probably try to do that again~although it takes alot of discipline for me to be able to drop 10lbs! Well, Hang in there!!! I know its especially hard right now b/c of doing the 5day reset~I'm right there with ya!

Tracy! That is so funny...about losing the 10 pounds before Christmas. That is exactly what I am doing right now. My DH and I are in a competition right now to lose the most by Jan 1. The holiday season kicks my butt every year! This year I'm being proactive. GL with the 5DPT! You'll do awesome. IT's very helpful! Today is day 5 for me!

Molly i know what you mean about junk food at work. u hate going to work not only do my cowworkers bring it to work. But every nite I have at least 5 pt's having there family memebers leaveing baskets full of home bake cooks or home made candy. Which in return I thank them for it. But kindly forget it at the desk and my co workers have no problems eating it for me lol. ( then they all wonder why they have wt issues) Last year at this time i was lucky and was off of work for three month with a broken foot and return to work 20 pounds liter. Then i was the talk of the hospital because during that time they thought my husband strave me and abuse me to make me lose wt. ( when they all knew I had wls.) This year I plan on loseing ten pounds to get into my new xmas dress I got already for the xmas party for work :} I wish all of you the best of luck. hugs :} Taichi

I tried to beat them to the punch this year and offered two bowls. One with all the nice sugar free stuff and one with the regular stuff. I'm not tempted by the regular because I still dump on sugar but the sugar free stuff doesn't tempt me much either..>it's just nice to have the alternative.  But...They all scarffed down the regular and there sits the sugar free. Oh well. Now there's nothing but the sugar free and if they have the munchies (and I know they do) they'll try the sugar free and think to themselves "Ummm. This isn't so bad." LOL...My little joke.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Last month I had the vending machines removed from the hallway of our office to avoid temptation for me as well as my staff. They now have a cupboard they call the stress cupboard and it is filled with junk food! Chips, cookies and candy. I told them that is like bringing "crack" into a drug rehab unit! 90% of us there are not at our goal weight and of that 90% half are diabetic! I think I will have engineering put a lock on it and make them keep the key! I can go days without anything and then on a bad day I will have one or two snack size candy bars. I have just got back to where I was a year ago (up and down the same 10 pounds). I will just keep bringing my own approved snacks but I have a hard time staying away from that crap and it takes a lot to make me sick from sugar
