I am 1 year 10 days out. I have been at a standstill for 3 months. My mom had rny and stopped losing after 6 months. I have 25 pounds at least to lose, but would like to lose 40 more... Is it still possible without "dieting?" Now, I'll be honest.... not doing the best with following the rules. Not good with my vits, but that is DEF cHange this week... Not exercising, and not paying attnetion to what I eat. Craving carbs - so I know I am eating to many... So, going back to basics and exercise - can it really help me now?? Can I lose it quickly - like a couple of pounds a wee again?? Not whining, I know what I am doing wrong... and I love being in a size 12/14... I love not minding what I see in the mirror, but I hate that I failed to reach my goal... Thanks for letting me vent =) Before: beforeatlanta.jpg image by pluvscbefore.jpg image by pluvsc After: sunnydays.jpg image by pluvsc  paulsbday002.jpg image by pluvscafter.jpg image by pluvsc

Others that "diet" successfully without the advantage the RNY gives you, lose 1-2 pounds a week; therefore, I believe it highly probable (not just possible) that you can lose 2 pounds a week!!!   *I* am more concerned that you take your supplements!!!!!!  YIKES!!!!!!   If you feel like you are unable to "change overnight" then change slowly.  For the first week, make sure you take your vitamins and add a protein shake a day.  In the 2nd week, continue with those two and drop your carb intake 50-75 grams and more forward in that way.  Otherwise, just bite the bullet and wake up tomorrow with a whole new set of rules and be prepared for some headaches and three days of misery while you detox off carbs!  Ugh! You know that you already know what to do!  Go for it!  You'll be a great success!  Look at what you've done so far!   Congratulations!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

You CAN make it to your goal!!! It might not be as quickly as it was during the first year~for me, things really slowed down at the 1yr mark~but I did continue to lose until I hit my personal goal (dr's goal was 165 and my personal goal was 150). I do find it hard to hold steady at 150 unless I REALLY watch everything and that's just not  realisitic to do every day of my life! Now I maintain between 150-159 depending on the day.  You've already figured out what  you need to do, so you're half way there!!! Push that protein, don't drink with meals, make time to exercise and please take your vits~they are so important, especially for us!!!!!! Well, Welcome to the Grad's board and I hope to see you here often!!!!!

You can definitely make it.  I know people who had a standstill for months then the weight loss kicked right back into gear when they added exercise and cut back on simple carbs.  I also have a friend who is about 9 years out from RNY and had gained some weight back.  She went back to basics and started exercising and lost the 25 pounds she gained back.  NOW, take your vitamins like a big girl. LOL.   By the way, I checked out the new pics on your myspace.  You look marvelous darling. Melissa
