I swear it feels like I have heart burn, is this even possible?  I am 2+ years out, in the last week this is the second time I feel like I have heart burn.  I am pretty sure that with my RNY altered stomach, heart burn is impossible.  Has anyone else had this?  Am I crazy?  What could it be? Thanks for your help!

I never got heartburn before my WLS, and now I get it a good bit. I figured it was because of all the extra fiber I'm eating. I've heard about several people having to go on medicine for it. They told me if it gets real bad, it could cause ulcers. (?)

My surgeon put me on Ranitadine for heart burn immediately after wls which I took for a few months.  Have been off it for a while now though.  maybe you should talk to your doc about it and see what s/he says

I have heartburn - I take Zantac 150 every night at bedtime to ward it off. I had a scope done and they said it's gastritis. It's a lot better than the severe Gerd I had before surgery though. Take to your doctor. They might have a recommendation for you. Diona

Heartburn is possible.  You still have acid producing tissue in your pouch and may experience it from time to time.  You should see your doctor as sometimes what is perceived as heartburn may be another problem, even heart disease.  Even if it is heartburn it should be treated.  Good luck.
