Question about a Staple Line Disruption
Hi All:
I have a SLD/dehiscence in addition to a hernia, ulcers, leaks, and a gigantic pouch. Revision surgey is scheduled for Oct. 22nd. My question is this: When a staple line disrupts, do the staples just get imbedded into the tissue (like a zipper that breaks from the bottom, the teeth stay intact). If not, where do they go? I meant to ask my surgeon about this but forgot to do so.
Anyone???
There is a woman on the DS forum who had the exact same issue with her RNY and had to have a revision (she revised to the DS). You might want to ask her . Her name is Dawn. She had the RNY in the 90s and after a staple line disruption she had a revision to the DS. She might be able to give you the "techinical" info that you require.

My 1994 RNY SLD at 5 yrs out, so I just had it repaired in 2000. No big deal.
What they told me at the time is that the body absorbed/passed out.
Understand the staples are eensy teensy, smaller than fleas. Smaller than a blackberry seed, for example. So, it's not like you would see it in your stool.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
