Hello All I had my Gastric Bypass surgery 1-06.  I have been taking Flinstone Vitamins Complete every since.   Long story short I am tired of chewing and tasting them.  I would prefer something I can swallow. I am looking for suggestions on other vitamins, we as gastric bypass patients, can take.   Thank you in advance.

I know I"m not helping w/ the swallowing thing..but I LOVE the flinstones gummies. I've had no issue w/ them at all and I've been taking them since 2mo out from my surgery. There are a multitude of multi vitamins, such as centrum out there..or you might contact the nutritionist in your bariatric program or team..they shoudl be able to suggest some pills. :) good luck! jess

May I ask .. have you been back to your surgeon ?  And is it normal for him to leave you on kids vitamans like this . Most people do the Flinstones for about 2 or 3 months . Then they move to either Prenatal Vits or a good Multi Vitamin .  There are some that swear their labs are great taking these vitamins .I disagree .. you are not far enough out to feel the effects from vitamin deficency . Your body has stores it can go to and then it will deplete .  First you need to see what your surgeon says . If he gives you clearance , my suggestion would be to get a good multi vitamin . I for one do Prenatals 2 x a day . B-12 shots , and a host of other suppliments .  There is a host of vitamins out there that you can take .  Best to you ..  Natalie

I take Centrum Silver (usually the "generic" version) and my labs are GREAT. I took Flintstones for a while though, and my doctor says that you can take Flintstones forever with good results.  I buy mine from E-bay for great prices. Hugs,  Piggy

Well, i think that you should investigate a good quality CHELATED vitamin & mineral suppliment. The chelation process make the elements in the suppliment more easily absorbed by the body, which is critical for long term health. Kids chewables are usally only used 2 to 3 months post op. Many drs want patients on a high quality vitamnin asap, as your health depends on it. good luck!

I've never taken flintstones or centrum. I started using Tropical Oasis liquid but now I take a chewable multi from Vitamin World, their adult pineapple flavored chewable...it's bygo on the first monday and tuesday of the month. I chew two a day, it's a great vitamin with lots of good things in it. I also take calcium citrate, b12 twice a week and coromega a liquid fish oil as well as iron - ferrous fumerate.

I was told prenatal vitamins for the rest of my life!  They have extra iron and some other things we need.
