Boy don't our kids surprise us sometimes

As I was driving my 10 year old 5th grader to school, we were having casual conversation about his class this year.  He has never shown any interest in girls yet, so I asked him if there were any girls he liked in his class this year.  He said he liked a girl named Elizabeth because she liked science like he did, and she thought he was funny.  I asked him what Elizabeth looked like, and he said she was pretty, but kind of big.  Then he said, "That's ok Dad loved you when you were big.  I guess he thought you were just as special then as you are now."  He went on to say, "Big or little isn't important to me,  I like brains and a sense of humor!"  I could not believe my son's reality.  Is it really true?  Men can really like us for ourselves not our looks!!  I never truly believed my husband everytime he told me that, but somehow I really think I can believe my son.  I asked him if he thought I was any different since my weight loss.  He said I was pretty much the same person, but there was one thing he liked better about me when I was bigger.  I had a softer "Pillow" for him to sleep on when we were in church.  I don't miss the pillow because I now have a lap.  Good day to you all, Delynn RNY 10=23-06 5'4" 236 highest 216 operation 106 present

Awwww, that's so sweet!! I do truly believe there are some men that can see past the "fat" and love us for us. My husband never said a word about my weight~when we met I was average size, then gained over 10yrs up to 328lbs, now back down to a normal weight~he has loved me at all sizes and I am thankful for that. I have a 10yr old son too and I bet he would have to agree with your son. Maybe seeing all that we've been thru will make them more sensitive to the other women that will come into their lives.

One day some lucky girl will thank you for raising such a thoughtful son. You must be doing something right.

Lets just hope his classmates don't change his way of thinking as he gets older....Sounds like he is a "keeper" Sandy
