Hi! I was severely iron defficient, with a ferritin of 3, and I constantly had to have mints.  The stronger the better.  I started with lifesavers but would eat the whole roll.  To save calories and avoid sugar I went to extreme mint chewing gum.  I only liked the white stuff with a hard shell and would go through about three packs a day.  I thought I was nuts!  I had an iron infusion and almost overnight the craving went away!  I also wanted black pepper.  Only the course ground stuff that has some bite to it.  I ate salads all the time with tons of the stuff.  I think my husband is sure he married a lunatic! Good luck, I'm positive the weird cravings will go away with an iron infusion. Amy
