I am reposting this in case you missed it earlier

Hello everyone, I had rny on Oct 23 2006 sso I am about 10 months out.  My highest weight was 236.  I am now ant 106 at 5'4 and i am still losing.  I am getting a lot of comments at work about being too thin, worries abouty being anerxoic and so on.  I eat 3 meals a day.  Typically I eat 4or5 slices of ham and some cherry tomatoes and grapes for breakfast, or other fruit.  Often the same for lunch.  I eat what ever the family has at dinner with smaller portions, but as much as I can take.  For example, last night we had fajitas, rice and beans.  I only ate a little rice (3 forkfuls)but I had 2 fajita tacos.  I drink about 6 cups of hot tea with splenda per day, and one glass of sweet tea (regular sugar) after dinner.  I am a size 2, and the last shirt I brought came from the mary kate and ashley girls wear section of wal-mart.  I have a dr. appointment on sept 20 to test my resting metabolic rate.  I had an appointment with my pcp and she said all vitamin levels are fine except i am a little low in b-12.  She wants me to come in for shots.  I am not bragging.  Honestly, I am worried.  My ribs stick out now as it is and i don't want to lose anymore, but I don't want to gain any back.  I came to this forum to see if anyone has ever had this problem or concern as well and what did you do about it.  I want to be at a healthy weight say about 120.  I have quit exercising much, I used to walk 2 miles per day.  I do coach volleyball in an unairconditioned gym, so that gives me some exercise, and a lot of sweating.  Any thoughts.  please comment (don't flame me please, i need constructive help.)

you may need to see you surgeon as soon as possible, let him know that you are concerned. they can't hold you off that long. try eating more carbs and it should bring you up a little. eat 5-6 small meals and add more carbs to your diet. hth.... gina

Hi, I can kinda relate to you and your concerns and I do have a suggestion or two...I am over 2 years out now, I too am 5'4" and my starting weight was 249 (day of surgery 238), I have comfortably now set at about 125 and allow myself a 5 +/- window on my weight before I make major modifications in how I now eat...I reached the docs goal @ 9 months and wanted to slow down loosing to get to my personal goal...At first it just didn't stop, I tried uping my cals, I was already eating 5-6 small meals a day...It took 4 more months and 19 more lbs to finally stop the losses, I was @ 119, and then wanted to put back on a few because I was not comfortable, I wanted to stay around 125...I had several visits with my nut thru learning to get a maintenance eating plan...In the end I had to up may daily cals to 1300-1500...Now I don't advocate this for anyone else, but this is what worked for me and I still can eat this way without detriment and I find if I go back to eating like I did when I was not in maintenance I start dropping lbs pretty quick again  - So, I added : quite a few "white" carbs (both lunch and dinner) a little real sugar ( I still dump so cannot do much) full fat cheese, dressings, butter I also added desserts & chocolates made with sugar subs, I have something most days slowed down my exercise to 3 days a week and I beefed up my cals by adding fruit and milk to my protein drink that I have for breakfast every morning Truthfully I have found for me, I just cannot follow that good eating plan the nut said I would have to for the rest of my life, cause if I do just eat "healthy" according to her plan, then I go back to losing again... I'm really very lucky in this aspect, don't know if it will continue this way forever, but I know whatever comes I can figure out a way to adjust it... Talk to your doc and a nutricianist, they should be able to help you...Good Luck Alesia

If you are still losing, you probably need to increase your daily calorie intake.  You may actually need to add some more carbs to your diet to be able to get back to 120 and maintain at that level.   It's great that you are having your resting metabolism tested; that should give you a solid idea what your minimum daily calorie intake should be.  Keep in mind that your resting metabolism is just that; how many calories your body needs in 24 hours to maintain it's regular functions.  Your resting metabolic rate does not account for the calories your burn through daily activity.  So if you are working out or playing sports (you mention volleyball), you need to figure out about how many calories you are burning through exercise and add that to your daily RMR to get a rough number for your total daily calorie intake.   Are you tracking what you eat on a daily basis?  That information would be very helpful in figuring out how many calories/carbs/fats/proteins you're getting on a daily basis.  And it should help you figure out how many calories you need to add to get back to the 120 range.  You said you quit exercising -- I suspect because of the continuing weight loss -- but keep in mind that exercise is great for your overall fitness.  So you'll want to figure out how to add exercise back to your routine while maintaining a healthy weight.   Have you talked to your surgeon about what's going on?  I don't know enough about other medical reasons that could be causing you to continue to lose -- perhaps hormone issues?  Thyroid?  Etc.  But it couldn't help to rule those things out as well.   Good luck on your continuing journey -  Kellie

Sorry you didn't get many replies earlier. I did not miss your first post, but I totally CANNOT relate to your situation. I'm sure I'd be scared too if I were losing too much too fast, but that is definitely not my problem. I thought the idea of talking to your doctor and a nutritionist was a good suggestion. Hope you find some help soon.  Hugs,   Piggybabe

I just started today to worry a little about not being able to stop my loss. I'm 5'7" and currently weigh 151.6  That is certainly not too low, but I have lost 4 pounds a month for the past 3 months and wonder what I need to do to make it stop. I recommend that you keep track of what you eat on www.fitday.com or www.sparkpeople.com so you know what you need. Keep increasing your calorie intake until you level off. I think you should be able to exercise moderately for all of the health benefits. Good luck and let us know.
