MY BALLS =)
not sure if i did this right, but i made my first protein balls ever....
i made it with 1/2 cup (8 tbsp) of roasted honey nut creamy skippy
2 tbsp = 190 x 4 = 760/6= 127 (rounded off) calories
5 x 4= 20/6= 3.33 carbs (2 of the 7 carbs were fiber)
7 x 4= 28/6= 4.6 protein
3/4 cup of special k protein cereal
3/4 cup = 100 calories/6= 16.6 calories
9/6= 1.5 carbs (5 of the 14 carbs were fiber)
10/6= 1.6 protein
isolated soy protein 95 powder (vanilla)
1 scoop = 130 /6= 21.6 calories
3/6= .5 carbs
25/6= 4.16 protein
my balls (hehe) equal:
165 calories
5.3 carbs
10.36 protein
oh i also sweetened them with 3 s&l's
does that sound about right? they are pretty big balls... =) smile gina
well it depends.. how do they taste. I'm sure they taste good.. I use a different recipe which give a few less calories than your and 11 protein, but a lot of the amounts depend on the protein u use.. I eat them all the time and just love them. I use chocolate protein powder with peanut butter so its like eating a peanut butter cup.
enjoy

Piggy:
I made a batch of protein balls with oatmeal instead of special k cereal. The recipe I found used quick rolled oats (not instant.) They are very good, but real filling. I can only eat 1 or 2 at a time. I could see that a person would have to be careful though, we could probably consume a bunch over the course of a day. I made mine with chocolate protein, so as an earlier poster said, they're kind of like Reese's ! They're a quick healthy treat! DeeAnn
I would not be able to use Special K because of the gluten. But, I could probably get by with oats...
Oats are "questionable" as far as gluten goes because of the cross-contamination possibilities, but I sometimes eat them anyway and they don't seem to bother me. Like I said I guess that would probably be better than candy!!
Thanks for the ideas DeeAnn. I'm going to just make 1/2 a batch this weekend. That way, if I like them toooooo much I won't do too much damage!! I cannot buy the Power Bars anymore because I eat them waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too frequently!! They are much healthier than Snickers, but they still have 210 calories each and if not careful I could eat 3 or more per day! That is NOT good!!! So I will just have to not buy any more of those!!!!
