Grads 2yrs+ - How much do you eat?

Well, lets see, I am about the same as all the others.  I am 2 1/2 years out, 3 in January and I have good and bad days.  I am always paranoid that I eat too much and then when I sit and figure out what I did, it really isn't that bad.  Don't get me wrong, I do have those bad days, I graze and munch on the wrong things which has caused my weight to go up to recently to 164 from a constant 155 to 158 for over a year.  But since my clothes still fit the same, I didn't realize it , until I landed in the hospital for 3 days for a small bowel obstruction from dehydration! Way too much coffee!  So I just went back to basics and I am doing the "Time Out" using the Nectar Proteins  and one cup of coffee a day, early morning to get the day going and today is my official day 2.  To answer the question I eat a lean cuisine size meal I guess between 7 and 10 oz depending if it is dense meat like chicken or if their is mainly pasta which I usually stay away from.  To me it is a waste to even bother with pasta. But that is me. Sometimes I have a snack like a yogart with granola, a banana with peanut butter, a fudgicle or lowfat frozen yogart, pineapple something along those lines.    I tell you what with this time out thing, I feel so full!  I thought I was going to die, but it is so easy, if anything I have to make myself eat!  It seems by everything you read on any subject at least we are all somewhat in the same boat and have experienced what others are at one time or another.  So as long as we listen to our tummies not our eyes or head and use common sense and stay away from junk for the most part we should do fine.  Best of Luck and continued health to everyone!

I eat what I believe is normal portions. Probably 1,700 calories a day. I try to avoid carbs, but I beleive I eat too many.

Disapointing isn't it...  I think it is that we are now able to eat past that full feeling... or that we aren't paying attention to that feeling anymore... my feeling is that we are trying to feel normal.

A HUGE thank you to everyone!!  I am so glad that I am not alone in this, that means the world to me.  I definitely can sympathize with everyone and wish everyone continue success in their journeys, I am so proud of you all!!!  You keep me motivated, even if I lurk a lot. I actually did get a small resolution to my problem.  I went back and analyzed any changes that I've had and the two that came up was the sudden increase in appetite and change in my birth control... well by Wednesday morning I was very frustrated and started researching my new birth control, turns out that I was one of so many women experiencing the same symptoms on this particular birth control brand.  I called my doctor on Wednesday evening and asked to be taken off that pill, and wouldn't you know.... increased hunger has stopped and I am feeling so much better emotionally wise, my weight has stabilized for right now thank goodness.  I'm still keeping track of everything, doing my routine, my goal is stay hydrated and get my protein in as you all have said, which is super important.   I actually haven't done the cottage cheese test and have been weary to do that....  I may try it with oatmeal tomorrow morning (I really don't like cottage cheese)....   I really thank everyone so much for the support and encouragement!!!!!!

I was going to say it could be hormonal.  I don't take birth control pills, but I do notice and increase in my appetite when I'm on my period, I just feel like I can eat more.  And the week before I get incredibly snacky.  Sometimes I clue into what's going on and others I just feel out of control. I do notice that I can eat a lot of soft foods while Bulky or firm protiens fill me up and keep me full for a while.  I tend to grab those soft proteins for lunch because they are easy (yogurt, cottage, cheese, chili, tuna salad).  But they slide through pretty quick and then you are hungry again. It is something that I'm working on.  I just did the 5 day pouch test that is posted on the LAWLS (living after WLS) website and I did prove to myself  that my tool is still working as designed, it's just me who is abusing the design. Good luck to you. Suzanne

I'm 13 yrs from my original distal RNY, 7 from revision (shiny new pouch). I would gain tremendously if I ate like most ppl have listed (except Gina)! I cannot do all that sugar (and fruit is sugar) and maintain my wt.

I'm so envious of the yogurts, cuz if I ate it every day, I'd have to give up my cutest shorts. ( I don't like the Dannon Light & Fit that are within my sugar g limit, but I like Yoplait Light, which is about double my single digit sugar limit. So, I do them rarely. Have never seen a Kashi low enough in sugar, so I've never even tasted it!

I do 6 protein shakes/day. Shake being a relative term. It's jus****er + powder, sometimes with ice. I do 4 feedings, 2 more meal like, 2 more snack like. I needed to dump some wt so went to protein bars for some of the meals (half or whole, depending on bar, but total less than 3g carbs), lost the "stupid" wt (ate sugar) and am maintaining again.

My bfast is usually a bar these days (it's smaller than a big bar, larger than a small bar) and eat about 3/4 of it. An hour later, I eat the rest with my iron. Lunch today, though, was a Happy Meal chzbrg. I ate about half the burger, half the fries. Another was half a bar (different, bigger bar), and dinner is fried chicken, fresh french bread. I'll eat most of a bone-in breast, don't like the skin.

Last night was a piece of the most tender pork roast you ever......... about as big as your fist. Half a corn on cob, maybe 10 leaves from an artichoke, and my splurge for the day, some strawberries with blueberries. I do not like blueberries AT ALL, but they are soooooooooo good for me, that I will eat a few if I can hide them in other stuff. Both are low glycemic. How much? Maybe 1/3 cup?

As everyone else said, I can eat much more some days than others, but if I eat sugar/white carbs in the morning, I am a raging eating machine all day! So, I stick with protein foods. By the time I have FOOD, though, I've got 60g supplement on board. 30g before I get my eyes open and 30g in my coffee a bit later.

I basically do:
protein drink
protein food
protein drink
food
protein drink
food
protein drink
food
protein drink

I do at least 6 drinks, so the other is wherever it fits in the day. I drink water between.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
