Remember Kim from Big Medicine, the lady who lost over 200 pounds and had trouble getting insurance coverage for plastic surgery? She is having a tummy tuck on September 4 (with insurance paying for it). She may be on Big Medicine again next season, if she gets everything done before taping ends. She's on my friends list - I feel like I know a real celebrity. She posted this on the Big Medicine forum: I am scheduled to have some surgery done on Sept. 4, and I wanted to ask all of you who have been so amazing and supportive after seeing my story to keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I have this done. I am very excited and nervous, but I have chosen an amazing plastic surgeon (Dr. Jeff Friedman) and Garth will be doing a procedure as well, so I know everything will be ok. Thank you again to all of you who have been so supportive of me after seeing my story! Your comments and prayers have been truly amazing, and they have meant so much to me I can never thank you all enough!

This is not the Big Medicine Forum, but it is the website for their main page which contains the link you are looking for. Interesting reading here!!! http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/big-medicine/big-medicine.html

If you do look at their message board, Kim's screen name is kvalera. My heart just goes out to her. She's so sweet and has worked so hard.

Hi, everyone! I'm Kim from Big Medicine (ok, it seems so weird to write that!).  I wanted to post to let everyone know where things stand with me now.  As Wanda has shared (thank you, Wanda!), I'm having surgery on September 4.  I'm having an abdominoplasty (fancy for tummy tuck!) and liposuction this first round.  My surgeon will be doing lipo on my arms and my back.  Once the arms get healed from the lipo, I can have them 'fixed' the rest of the way.  The problem with the way I've been "melting" is that there is still heaviness in the skin in the arms, which will, according to my surgeon, make the results less satisfying than I would want, and he would likely have to go in for a repair if he did that anyway.  SO...lipo on the arms on the 4th, then after they get healed, removal of the skin. I'm very excited and somewhat nervous, but it is great to be about to take the next step in this incredible journey!  Your thoughts and prayers are very appreciated.  You have no idea how much it has meant to me...and still means to me...to have so much support!  I expect to be in the hospital for about 3 days, more or less.  Thank you all, again, for your wonderful support and for reaching out to me as I share my story!

I am so happy for you--I saw your original episode with the decline for P/S, and my heart just broke for you.  Congratulations on the changes that will be happening soon! Hugs,

Big medicine was on TLC I thought on Mondays at 8pm.  I cannot find it now.  Do you know when and where it is on?

It moved to Mondays at 10:00 p.m., but the season ended last week. I don't know when the new season will start. I will miss it until it starts again.

Hi all, I was on Big Medicine  episode 10. I can see where the show has helped so many understand both gastric bypass surgery an what is involved in plastics. I was glad to be a part of the show an I look forward to seeing how the guys are doing next season. I was told it would air some time in January. I think they are doing some of the recording now. Kim you look great an was a pleasure watching your episode on the show.  I have already marked my calendar an will have to make sure I set the DVR Hugs! Cat
