Question about varicous veins
I want to start and say I have been going back an forth between the main board and this one and I am feeling very good right now. I am about 13 months out and I am beginning to feel like I am at goal I have not lost a pound in two months and my doctor feels this may be it. My goal was 150 but I have been stuck at 170. No matter what I do I do not budge. I am ok with that because I feel wonderful and I am working out with weights and cardio 4 to 5 times a week. My concern are my legs I have terrible veins that are horrible to look at and they really hurt bad after a hard workout. My toes are also becomming sore and painful. I am seeing a vascular sugeon this week but any imput to my chances of having them fixed would be great. they hurt when I was young before my weight gain and they hurt more now after all the weight loss.
thanks for letting we rattle on

I had the laser and injections done, virtually painless!!!!!And my legs look and feel great. No more swelling or throbbing. Go to a vein clinic for an exam before you have any surgery done, This leaves no scars nor does it hurt. I drove to the clinic and drove home, and hour each way, for every treatment. My insurance paid for all of it.

Apryl,
I had horrible varicose veins, and have since early adulthood. They run rampant in my family and three pregnancies, being big for so long and my job (as an RN) didn't help. Last year I had a procedure done where they go into the vein and use radio waves (supposedly less painful than laser) to close them down. They also use a material that sclerotizes (kills) the veins. Most people report minimal pain and great success. I had HORRIBLE pain (pelvic pain during and leg pain after) and minimal improvement. They feel better, I'll say that. No more heaviness and the swelling has stopped. But they still look AWFUL.
I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just wanted you to know that sometimes they may not look better (I had dreams of short skirts --it's SO not gonna happen!) but that they usually will feel better.
Take care,
Vickie
PS My goal was 150 and I can't get there either. I hover between 175-180 and I think this may be it for me as well. Like you, I feel great, so if this is it, this is it. :)
thank you all for your support. I just came back from the Doctor's office and he said I am a prime candidate for Laser surgery. He said since my veins are so large it may take two proceedures. One to shut off the veins that could be done in the office then if they still have problems or are too large he will set up an appointment to strip the vein in the hospital. My right leg is larger and worse than my left he feels we may get by with just one leg going the distance. It is nice to know that I am not alone in this problem. This doctor too feels that I am not going to lose much more either. Thats ok with me I am now having the time of my life!!!
Thanks again for your comments and support.
