Frustrated

Hello there.  I had RNY WLS 11/15/02 reached my goal with little or no effort.  I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis 2 years ago and had to take massive doses of steriods which made me gain 40 pounds very fast.  I'm no longer on the steroids and have therapeutic doses of meds which really help.  I've managed to lose 12 pounds over the last 3 months, very disheartened and aggrivated.  I don't eat junk, I love cottage cheese, I can eat and tolerate anything.  My hair is falling out by the handfuls, I'm irritable as all get out.  I don't know what else to do.  I take my vitamins, Lyrica for my arthritis and Lunesta for chronic insomnia. HELP!!!  I've considered swallowing some quick-crete to see if that would help. LOL.  I'm over 4 1/2 years out and I think I'll just fall over dead if all this weight comes back.  It's been a long and trying road.  I've had to have my jaw replaced, I still work as a nurse supervisor, very active with a 5 year old son and an 8 year old daughter, and believe it or not, my husband and I have been active with a local professional wrestling organization, so that's every Sat. nite, plus training on Sun,  and promotional duties all through the week as well as helping with homework, housework etc.  I'm lost.  Any advise or expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, it sounds like you're doing all the right things and you're certainly active enough, but sometimes those meds just continue to play havoc with our bodies long after their out of our systems. How were your most current labs? What do you think is causing the hair loss? In a case like yours I almost want to say forget about the number on the scale and focus on feeling healthy and well. You managed to lose 12lbs and that's fantastic! Hopefully if you continue to eat properly and get in your exercise you will drop even more. I'm sure at this point it feels like you have to work so hard to lose every single pound. Remember where you started and where you are now~I would venture to guess that you're much happier and healthier now than before wls. Hang in there and keep us update on how things are going for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should have  your hormones checked - boy can steroids mess with them. Have them checked for Estradial, Progesterone, Testosterone, Cortisol, and DHEA. Then see where you are. There is a good book called "Hormone hell to hormone well' out there that really can help you understand your hormones. Also bioidentical hormones are just like what your body makes and do not cause the cancer problems that the synthetic or pregnant horse pee ones cause.  Diona

Thanks ya'll, you gave me something to work on. I know that I just turned 38 and have NO drive at all, let's just say my husband says that I am a monk.  I know that there is something hormonal going on and it aggrivates the hell out of me.  So if it's this bad now, I don't know what it will be like later on.  Thanks again.
