Please advise... I have 2 questions
Hi all. I am a year and 4 months out. I am currently at 150. I'm 5'8" my weight before surgery was 335. My question is when do I stop loosing weight? I notice that I am eating more... but I am still loosing weight. The other question I have is off the subject... does anyone go on a chips crave? I have lately and I feel like I cant stop... What can I do?
Please advise!!! Thanks.
Hi Betty. I'm a little more than a year out, and I've been losing weight very slowly for the past couple of months. My surgeon said I'd stop at 180-185 pounds, but I've dropped to 150 pounds. I'm loving it, but I don't want to lose any more, because my skin is getting really droopy and I don't want to have plastic surgery. I won't worry about it too much unless I lose another 10 pounds or so. And I also love chips and crackers. I'm trying so hard to stay away from them. I don't have much trouble avoiding sweets, but I sure do like the chips and crackers. It would probably be best if we fight that craving the best we can. :)

I'm down to 19% body fat, and 150 lbs like you do I'm MUCH shorter than you however, and I'm done - the remainder of the 'excess weight' I carry is SKIN, not FAT. (At 19% body fat, I only have 29 lbs of fat total, and I'm 32 lbs above the surgeon's 'goal'.)
I have seen several people who lost down to about 19-20 BMI (slightly underweight), and then bounced back about 10lbs to a healthier weight. If you feel you are losing too much, there are things you can do.
The first is easy - eat more carbs. If eating more doesn't slow it down or stop the weight loss, then talk to your PCP or surgeon about pancreatic enzymes which can also halt your weight loss. They do not have to be taken for life - usually a few weeks or months is enough.
As a last resort, they can do a revision to lengthen the active part of of your intestine.

It's pretty normal to overshoot goal for some ppl, but then there is pretty much a guaranteed bounce back of 10-15 # when the end comes, so you don't want to try to stop yourself at goal THEN have bounceback, you know?
I've never seen anyone healthy who stays too thin. Sickly ppl, yes, but ones with decent labs don't stay way too thin for long.
