Im 23 months out,,,and have noticed that every day around the middle of the day, I get the shakes really bad. Anybody else do this?? I was wondering if it meant I needed to eat,,so I have been eating some protein when I do that,,and after about an hour, it passes. Dontknow if thats what it is tho. Just wondering if Im the only one............... Blessings Betsy

I got thru this too sometimes due to low blood sugar. I try to eat on a schedule, but if I get off schedule for the day this seems to happen. Like you, I feel fine after I eat some protein and relax for awhile. So, you might want to add a high protein snack  mid day before the shakes would normally hit and see if that helps.  Good Luck!!!!!!

I did too for a long time. It was low sugar with me. Doc had me switch to six small meals per day instead and it went right away!!! I was eatting every two hours (by eatting though I mean one "meal" was a piece of string cheese and a single serving of no sugar added applesauce).   HUGS

Yeah as the others have said it sounds like low blood sugar. I had it happen to me at work and we checked my blood sugar (I'm an RN in a hospital so we have all the stuff around to check sugars) and it was 60. Oops. So now I eat more routinely, especially at work. I carry granola and beef jerky and keep them close so that if I get busy with a patient and just have a couple of minutes I can grab a handful to stave off low sugars.

Right aout 2 yrs is when the hypoglycemia starts to show up. On Yahoo Grads, there are tons of articles in the archives on it. I read a recent study which concludes that it is the fault of the patient, which we do no tthink is valid. Only 19 subjects were studied. While it's easy to say that you crash now because you ate carbs 10-30-60 minutes or 8 hours ago, or mayvbe 24 hours, well, it's not valid.

What we have all agreed is that frequent small protein centered meals can help, if a crash occurs, the very last thing we want to do is eat sugar or glucose (unless you're going down right now), because it can precipitate another crash in a few hours. Most of us carry peanut butter crackers, and this is one case where drinking with it is a good thing. It can be rather dry to swallow and we really do want it to hit the system quickly. I carry a 6 pack of those in a hard shell glasses case in my purse. (Otherwise I'd have to "drink" my crackers! LOL) Just 3 seems to stop the crash for me.

The "cheap" white car hits fast, the PB has a dab of protein and fat, which slows the reaction so it doesn't bounce back like glucose would.

Newer research is starting to show a problem with the pancreas that can cause these attacks without any traceable eating issue.

I had been thinking it was low blood sugar. Thanks everyone for the input, Ill get me some of those crackers and protein bars and carry em with me. Last night at church I was talking to a friend who had his surgery 2 weeks before me, and he said" whew! I thought I was theonly one who did that!" He said he keeps peanut butter and crackers in his desk drawer at work for just those times. Im gonna go buy a case at WalMart! I have noticed since I have cut the carbs, its not as frequent, and Im eating something every 2-3 hours, even if its jut a bite. Thanks again! This site is so great for info and support! Have a great day all! Blessings Betsy
