Linda, my doctor told me when I went for my first post-op visit (I am 13 days out) that the effects of the anesthetic can last a month.  I am one of those who find it difficult to eat even though I kinow that protein is the link to healing my stomach.  Things not only taste funny to me but I can't stand the smell or texture, either.  I have some Carnation instant bf which I am determined to get down me!  How far out are you?- @li

I'm 27 months out from gastic bypass, but just 8 days out of the tonsil surgery.  I lived on carnation instant breakfast after the gastric bypass.  I used it again for this surgery, but I do NOT like milk, so don't drink it when I don't have to.   I hope you do better on the eating--I forced myself to eat for a long time, because, as you say, it's the key to healing.  Good luck!
