I am not sure if its related to extreme weight loss and bodily changes from it but over the past two months I have noticed my hair has become wavy- and curlier on top my crown especially.  I have ALWAYS had dead straight hair- even chemical permanents would not take well. I wonder what could cause a radical change in my hair like this?  Has anyone had a similar experience?  My hair has always been thin due to  alopecia for a few decades.  Now my hope is my hair will make another change- that is get thicker and fuller.

Me Too!!! I have always had dead straight hair, but put its new found kink down to living in extremely humid weather all the time. However, I was a fairly new post op when I moved here so who knows? Kim

I believe that it is from the hair loss (assuming that you had some)  I have seen this with people who lost their hair through chemotherapy, when it grows back in, it is wavy or curly I lost some hair and now my reasonably straight hair is coming in wavy too.  Just when the styles are straight.  It just doesn't seem fair.  I am glad though that it did grow back in.

OMG! Me too! I had no idea that it was from teh surgery! I know that when you lose hair (as in cancer patients) that it can grow back thicker, or thinner, curlier or straighter..but apprently it works for this too! I can now just was my hair and let it dry and it will be wavy, and parts of it are in ringlets! :) I've never had hair this great. :)

My hair did just the opposite!!! It has always been very curly, I'm talking ringlets, before surgery. Lost quite a bit and then now it is straight!!!! Maybe just a tiny bit wavy but this is so new to me. You just never know!! Susan

i had the same thing. I am 18 months post surgery and I did not lose much hair however in the last six months my hair has become curly. I was trying to let my hair grow however it looked so unhealthy that last week I colored it back to my natural color therefore I would'nt have to color it for a while hopefully and I cut it short and I will try again to grow it. I think it is from the surgery and hormone changes. I am glad to know I'm not the only one.
