would anyone have an idea as to why i am literally freezing my arsss off in an ofc at 71 degrees. i am so cold lately and can't figure it out. i can be outside and be cold. could it be from the weight i have lost or is my metabolism working to keep me warm and i'm still cold?????????????????

If it isnt 85 or above, I am cold. Cold all the time. I dread winter now. I used to love it! I think it is the weight loss - I tell people I have a little bitty furnace from when my body was bigger. I would love to tell you it gets better but I have a friend who lost weight 8 years ago and is still cold. Oh my.  Sorry. Judi

Same here!  Always cold, especially in the office!  I am about 2 1/2 years, I was very anemic and I thought that was why but have been perfect iron for a long time so not that either.  I never liked winter now I HATE IT!  So I am sorry too, I also have one friend 6 months out, a cousin 5 years out and an aunt 3 years out and they are all popcicles!

hehehe  I know!  My office thinks I am crazy!  They all run around in short sleeves and complain about the heat and here I am in a almost floor lenght heave sweater and I have knit gloves that the tips are cut off so I can key!  Grant you I don't have to wear it all the time, but I do A LOT! We lost all our insulation! And I may be cold, but I don't want to find it either!

Me to!!! Im always cold and cant stand the thought of winter here in NY!! BRRRRRRRRRR

Sometimes if you're iron is low it will cause coldness. But I think alot of post ops have this. Just the weight loss!!!

Buy an electric blanket!!

Hi there, I am so glad you addressed this issue.  I too have froze since my surgery.  I teased my doctor and asked him if he reset my internal thermostate!!  LOL  Here it is running temps over the 100 degree mark and I'm cold....it doesn't make any since and I too dread winter.  I used to never be cold but now......brrrrrrrr is right!!!  Of course I wouldn't trade this for anything.  I love to shop for clothes now!!  Always, Kathy

Since you didn't just lose your insulation "yesterday", I'm guessing iron deficieny anemia. Quite pervalent in our population, esp for those who have taken low dose, wrong formula or no iron over the course of post-op life.

Where do last labs show iron and ferritin levels to be?

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

Hi Gina, I am only 13 days out but I am freeeeeeezing cold all the time, as well.  Unfortunately, it causes me to sweat so much that I've taken to sleeping on towels which are easier (than sheets) to change in the middle of the night, which I have to do sometimes three times! I even soak through my pillows.  But as far as YOUR freezing is concerned, have you asked your doctor to check your thyroid levels?  I take thyroxine because mine if hypoactive (it works extremely slowly).  Please have it checked.  There are so many women with this problem who are unaware of it and doctors don't necessarily check for it on your blood work -- you have to ask specifically that your TSH levels (3 and 4) be tested.  Good luck.
