Sad News

My mother has passed away.  Francesca and I are back from her funeral.  While the funeral was a wonderful celebration of her life, I'm finding myself quite sad.  I've been feeling her love around me in a hundred different little ways.

I'm fine until I'm not fine, then I'm really not fine until I'm fine again.

My mother lost her battle with diabetes type 2 related to her super morbid obesity.  She was 5'1" and 300 lbs at her death.  She was in the hospital with a cellulitius and became septic.  The death was quite sudden.  Her heart simply stopped, and they were unable to get it restarted.

For all of us striving dilligently to maintain - it is a worthy struggle.  It truly is life or death.  We've been given an opportunity to save our own lives. Depression-wise, I'm trying hard to keep fighting the good fight, and not let my current sadness bring me all the way down.

Sending love to all WLS-graduates, ~Lara

((((Bless your heart)))) I know your pain, I lost my Mother almost 1 1/2 yrs ago and it's just "now" getting to where I can think of her and laugh about things that happened to us both. So many emotions you will go thru, it was hard for me during the time due to the fact that I had surgery 3 wks before she was hospitalized and she past 3 months after my surgery, so my success has been bittersweet weight wise.  Sigh,,,,wish I could give you a big ole neck hug girl cause I know your hurting.....Love Melanie

Lara, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my mother 24 years ago and it still seems as if it was just yesterday. Sometimes it is a smell, sometimes the way my little sister looks because she looks alot like her. Just know that you will always have the memories - they last a life time! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Diona

Lara, I am so sorry about your loss.  My mother is very much in the same condition as yours was before she passed.  She is getting sicker and sicker and her quality of life is very bad.  I feel your sadness and thank you for reminding us that this is about so much more than a size of pants.   Maryse

Hi Lara, I am sorry about your loss.  I hope the wonderful memories with your mom bring comfort to you.  You'll always have those to cherish. You are right on - what we do everyday as wls patients is worth the struggle.  I'm grateful for the opportunity given to me by my surgery as a second chance. Take care, Cathy
