weight gain after DS?????????
Jen;
My mom is 9 years post-op with a DS. Her lowest pre-PS weight was 146. She's had a tummy tuck (2 years post-DS), a thigh lift (4 years post-DS) and a breast reduction/lift (8 years post-DS) removing a total of about 20 lbs. of skin. She currently weighs in between 168 and 172 depending on the day.
So, yes she's regained weight, but she's not obese again.
Blessings, Jennifer

For many DSers there is a 10 percent rebound after several years...and then their bodies set there. The Hess study shows that 95 percent of his patients 10 years out were able to maintain a 75 percent excess weight loss (considering that DSers on average lose 75-58% of their excess weight thats not bad). So significant weight regain is not normal.
If you go to www.duodenalswitch.com there are many DSers that are 4 plus years post op. You might be interested in Diana Cox's most recent post, she lost 17 lbs this past year as a 4 year post op, without any signifiant changes to her diet regime.
Hope this helps

hi Jen
I will be six years out this October...........and I have put some weight back on. Most of that is muscle weight as I have gotten healthier I exercise more- and I am sure some of it is fat as well....my boobs filled back out (personally I was thrilled with that) I went from a high of >350 my physician estimates it was over 400lbs (no scale in his office big enough to weigh me for the diet (Atkins) before surgery. I was 342 by the time I got my first pre-op appointment. My lowest post-DS was stabilized at 162-165.
I love my weight 180lbs 5'10" tall---I have very little loose skin now that I have put some weight back on. I feel prettier and healthier at this weight than I did at 162-165 so I am at my goal weight. I am also at my surgeons goal weight heck his was anything under 230lbs.
I eat what I want after I get my protein in for the meal. I couldn't be happier I eat when I am hungry, I eat anywhere with my family.
Honestly I weigh only every month or two.
I do exercise 5 days a week and continually challenge myself to work-out smarter and harder.
your welcome to visit my profile I am a success in life and at the DS as well.
Gratitude is my attitude
