Hi everyone. On Sept 26 I will be 2 years out from open RNY.My starting weight was 362 and I am currently sitting at 255.I am not happy to say the least. No I don't exercise and yes that is a big problem and one of the main reasons I am sitting at 255 lol.Also I will admit to eating some not so good foods lol. However I have been back on track for the last 3 weeks.I need some encouragement to help me along this road back to eating healthy. Also what I am eating can some one tell me if its too much, just right or not enough? Here is what I eat during the day Breakfast 1 6oz Yogurt(usually blueberry flavor or cherry vanilla and sweetened with splenda) 1 package(there is 5 packages in one box so it lasts me 5 days) of general mills apple ripples(which equals 1 small serving of fruit and no sugar besides what is in the fruit itself) Lunch 2 cheese sticks 1 tomatoe(from my garden yummy! lol) mid afternoon snack sugar free pudding or jello Dinner  6 oz Salmon  2 ozs mushrooms evening snack 16 oz of protein shake with fresh cherries, blueberries and strawberries(oh and I freeze 16 ozs of it to have as a treat the next day) Ok too much fruit I am thinking lol. When I started 3 weeks ago I was at 261 so I have lost some thank goodness. Thanks everyone

Well... are you hungry?  I'm thinking its not enough, but if you're satisfied and you're losing, then it's the right amount. But I hope you pat yourself on the back - not only have you already lost over 100 lbs, but you're STILL motivated to keep losing and that's huge.  I'm 2 years out also and my weight is good, but if I wanted to or had to, I don't think I'd find the motivation to keep losing, so you should be proud - it isn't easy to keep going. Keep up the good work.

I'm only a year post-op and I eat more than that, a good bit more. I just don't know if I could make it on that little bit. I usually eat half an egg sandwich in the morning (132 calories), snack in the morning (100 calories), something balanced at lunch (protein, vegetables, good carb) (250 calories), snack in afternoon (100 calories), something balanced at dinner (protein, vegetables, good carb) (250 calories), and sometimes another snack before bed (100 calories).  I end up with around 1,000-to-1,200 calories a day. If I drop below that, I actually start to put on weight. I do exercise a good bit, and they say that makes a big difference. Some of the grads have advised me not to eat too much fruit, that it has caused them to have some regain. Please keep posting on your progress - I am learning from the rest of you.

It sounds like you're making good choices~that's the hardest part I think. Do you track you calories on fitday or sparkpeople?? I shoot for a calorie range depending on whether I'm trying to maintain or lose so I guess I'm interested in how many calories that comes out too? If the calories are too low you will go into starvation mode and your body will fight to hold on to every ounce. I think adding a midmorning snack or having a little larger lunch would be good b/c you're not giving your body very much to work on for the first part of the day~you could even add another protein shake if you're not that hungry at that time of day.  Also,I know you say you have not exercised, but its never too late to start! Even just getting out and taking a walk is a great way to jumpstart the weightloss again. Good Luck and keep us posted on how its going for you!

I would suggest entering your intake into fitday. I would guess that you aren't getting enough calories and your metabolism may be sluggish due to this. As well, start walking at least 30 minutes every day.  Dawn

I eat much more than that.  You should consider talking to your nutritionist again, because mine was really adamant about a lot of protein and the need for some carbs to assist in digesting the protein.  When I was eating too little I was not losing weight.  My biggest concern is it looks like you are really skimping on the protein, which will lead to long term problems. Just a couple of suggestions: Try adding some fresh veggies (chewed very well, of course) to keep things regular.  Maybe supplement your lunch cheese sticks with a little tossed salad. It doesnt sound like you are consuming too much fruit, except in the evening shake, and this time of year who can resist fresh fruit!!!!   Add some protein powder to your sugar free pudding.   Gives it more "food value" and staying power.  I make my pudding from the mix and add the protein powder to the milk before mixing in the pudding powder. lots and lots of water as always.  Personally I love Fruit20.  I can drink gallons of it. Add some whole grain crackers or bread to your evening meal.  AFTER your protein, of course. And, of course, add some exercise.  Doesnt have to be much.  A walk around the neighborhood early in the morning or late in the evening, when it is cooler, is pleasant and gets the old metabolism moving.

I agree, it does seem that maybe you aren't eating enough.  I'm just guessing at your protein levels, but it doesn't look like you are getting in enough protein.  For me, if I'm not getting in enough protein, I won't lose weight.  When I bump up the protein, then the weight starts to come off. Protein ~*~ Water ~*~ Exercise   A Winning combination. Suzanne
