Glad I found this site

I haven't been to OH site in awhile - it's seems to be all newbies and I need help from oldbies!  Now that I've found all of you oldbies I'm going to keep coming back.  Just like a lot of you (so it seems) I'm having trouble sticking to the plan and gaining weight.  Grazing and carbs are my worst enemy and I can't seem to stay away from them.  I feel like I didn't even have surgery - I can eat a lot and sugar doesn't bother me.  Just reading the posts here seems to help.  Any one with advise on how to get back on plan?  I'll take all I can before I'm back where I started!!!  Just can't let that happen. Thanks, Gail

Gail, Some people have been trying what is called a 'Timeout'.  Here it is in case you would like to try it also:

Time Out

For the first two weeks nothing but three protein drinks

(Nectar or Essence because they are high in protein and low in calories)

All the water and crystal lite I can drink per day

After two weeks cut back to two protein drinks and add a salad with fat free dressing.

The Doctor uses this for his maintenance patients who have started regain - he doesn't think that any regain is acceptable. After reaching goal continue to weigh every day and if you gain more than two or three pounds get right back on the time out program til back to goal.  This is supposed to nip the problems in the bud before they become major issues like now.

Best of luck in regaining control.

I found the books "The Beck Diet Solution" and "Winning After Losing" very helpful  They both focus on retraining your thinking rather than just on dieting.  I also saw but haven't read "The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery."  I find that books can be a good source of motivation for me as well as information.  The Winning After Losing is written by a woman who had bariatric surgery.  Good luck, Sally
