Hi everyone.  I haven't been on OH for a long time. I am 14 months out and out of control. Well until today I hope. I have put on five pounds and am now 15 pounds from my goal weight.  I have started Time Out today, it is 1o'clock ish and I am doing ok I have had two shakes and crystal light. I am so afraid I won't beable to do this, I feel like hiding in a hole somewhere till its been two or three days done.  lol. Well anyways questions. How much have you all been working out if at all? Can you strength train at all on this plan? Also do you know if you go in to ketosis on the plan like with Atkins? How did you all do with the first couple days was it hard for you? Also for all of you who have done the time out and have stopped how did your pouch feel when you ate regular food? Thanks for any info. Also would anyone like to have a post with me and let each other know how we are doing everyday(that we can)? I am 153 today 8/1

Karolina, can i be your time out partner? I too started today and would like to be locked away until i am over these crazy withdrawal symptoms! Boy this is hard. I have had 1 coffee, 16 oz crystal light, 16 oz water, 1 carb master yogurt( it has 12 gm protein, only 3 carbs) and 1 protein dink 19 gms protein.  This will definately put us in ketosis so after 2-3 days it will get easier. I have 3 big events coming up. Next week i am traveling for a  work conference, sat have a breakfast scheduled at my sons park and the next weekend a camping trip.  Today I have just told myself that this food will always be there and that if i give in, i know i spiral out of control. I too am close to your weight. i was 151 yesterday and i want to get to 140lbs, or less. Let's do this together! Key for me this evening will be to stay out of the house. I plan to go to the YMCA, or walking or whatever.....but when i first start this i feel to weak to exercise so maybe i will just swim a bit and hot tub it, as long as i am AWAY from food.

Hey  I would love to be your partner.  I did the plan till 3pm yesterday, then I was bad.  Today is a new day and I am hoping I can make it longer.  I hope you still want to be my partner lol I feel bad.I think If I knew  someone was going to do it with me I would have done even better. I do have alot of mental issues around food, but I don't want to go to counsling or anything. Yesterday I had the same mentality I did pre-op.   All or nothing it is very scary, where did this all come from, the demon was asleep for a year. Do you feel like that at all? So how did you do yesterday?  Good lluck to you today and to myself lol I need it. Oh yeah and if I can get into ketosis that will help so much so I just need to keep remebering I have to be 100% to get into ketosis. Do you have keto stixs? I do so I'm all set to test for that, I think it is fun to see.

I have read about this time out and just wondered if there is any other protein drinks that you can have besides Essence and Nectar?  I don't really like the Nectar drinks and can not find the Essence without purchasing it online so just wondered if you can use any protein drink? Thanks for your help. Deanna

I am using advant edge. I wouldn't see why you couldn't as long as it's low sugar.

Hre is a repost of posts on this from Goldfishw Just a couple of days ago: "Here is two versions for all that would like them. I called my surgeon about six weeks ago and he put me on a regimen he calls Time Out - for the first two weeks I had nothing but three protein drinks (and he specified either Nectar or Essence because they are high in protein and low in calories) and all the water and crystal lite I could drink per day.  After two weeks he had me cut back to two protein drinks and add a salad with fat free dressing.  I have lost a total of 26 pounds since I started it - lost 16 the first two weeks but it has slowed tremedously now - and I'm not surprised.  The good news is that I am changing sizes so my body is adjusting.  Since starting this program I have more energy and feel so much better.  I know it's because I have "detoxed" by body from the carbs and sugars. He does use this for his maintainance patients who have started regain - he doesn't think that any regain is acceptable. After reaching my goal, I will continue to weigh every day and if I gain more than two or three pounds, I get right back on the time out program til I'm back to goal.  This is supposed to nip the problems in the bud before they become major issues like now.

KAREN B’S TIMER PLAN FOR GETTING BACK ON TRACK The idea of this is to stimulate your metabolism to start burning fat and stop the grazing!!! Of course, adjust the times to your schedule, however, do NOT go past 1 ½ hours between some kind of feedings. 6 am coffee, tea, or some other kind of warm beverage to get things going 7 am 8 or more oz of PURE water 8 am protein shake 9 am 1-3 oz of protein type food* 10 am 8 or more oz of pure water 11 am protein shake noon 1-3 oz of protein type food 1 pm 8 or more oz of pure water 2 pm protein shake 3 pm 1-3 oz of protein type food 4 pm 8 or more oz of pure water 5 pm protein shake (like while cooking dinner prevents tasting and grazing) 6 pm dinner 1-3 oz of food total, i.e., 2 oz of protein food, a bite or two of veggie and perhaps a taste of a complex carb 7 pm 8 or more oz of pure water 8 pm protein shake 9 pm light snack like string cheese, deli meat or cheese, about 1 or 2 oz total 10 pm 8 or more oz pure water · Pure water is very important to optimum health and to flush the fat cells through your body.  You may drink crystal light, diet Snapple, flavored waters, etc., however, you still MUST get in the 64 oz of PURE water every day and do not count the water in shakes or the flavored waters UNLESS you are flavoring them yourself with lemon, etc.  Propel is good, but still do not count towards your water. · You may make your protein shakes with just 1 scoop for 20 g of protein or less, but your total protein shake consumption must be at least 90 g.  I use the full 30 g portion for each of my shakes, but my body requires more protein supplement.  Please adjust accordingly, however the importance is actually drinking them.  You can make up a half a portion in 2-3 oz of water to equal 15-20 g of protein then your daily total of drinking 5 shakes would be around 100 g which is perfect for a proximal RNY. · You will find that by setting the timer, you will never be hungry, and in fact, by the latter part of the day, you will be surprised when the timer goes off to have water, protein, or food again! · All meals must have a beginning and an end.  No more than 15-20 minutes per mini-meal.   If you are full in five minutes, STOP and discard food or put away for the next meal.  It doesn’t mean that you can still eat during that hour.  This constitutes grazing. · Track your food in Fitday.  This helps. You will find that even though you are eating every three hours your pouchie can’t handle as much as it could have before. · If you aren’t carbophobic add some whole grains to your meals, but eat them LAST. Mix all protein shakes with water and ice only.  No milk or fruit.  This adds calories and causes cravings for more carbs.   You may add SF syrups, or mix your shakes with SF beverages, i.e., Propel, crystal light, Fruit 2-0, etc." Also, you should do some form of exercise no matter what plan you're on, exercise is key to success. I believe that anytime you substantially limit carbs for an extended period of time you will go into ketosis. Carla
