Happy Day to All It's late in the night on Saturday and I wanted to get a jump on posting cuz I'm going to be busy tomorrow working in my yard... Well, yesterday I said I was going to work on making my weekend better to compensate for overdoing it on Thursday and again Friday...I was out all day and did not really have access to a lot of good food choices, so mostly I chose not to eat...My biggest mistake of the day, however, was to think that the few thinks I did have ( to tide me over ) were not going to add up to much, cuz they weren't alot of food and I also felt not really the worst choices, THIS WAS NOT GOOD ...i ended up not really eating much of anything, but what I did eat did add up and in a big way, not a good way...Here it is : B - 20 oz 1/2 caf sf/ff fv & caramel latte S - choc Oh Yeah! protein bar L - 1 1/2 lemon shortbread cookies       3 hush puppies       4 french fries S - 6 potato chips       6 oz green tea wine cooler D - 1 cup spinach salad with strawberries, pears and candied pecans and raspberry vinegrette        3 oz grilled pork chop with pearberry glaze        2 very small pita wedges with fage yogurt spread on top S - 10 oz protein hot cocoa PLUS  -     100 oz water/crystal light TOTALS     =     Cals - 1551     Fat - 65     Carbs - 153     Protein 84 As I said now on 3rd day in a row where cals & carbs are at the high end of acceptable and for what I actually ate today, these numbers really suck !!! Definately do not feel what I ate was worth this much in totals... Alesia

Breakfast-  about 3 bites of a piece of whole wheat, low carb toast with 1/2 fried egg in a pan with no grease, and 2 pieces of turkey bacon.  (about 2/3rds of the  "sandwich")  I will put it all on the toast with a little shredded cheese and fold it in half and ate about 2/3rds of it. Lunch- Wendy's salad, plain with just their chili on top with a little shredded cheese (I can only eat about 3-5 good bites) Snack-  Roadside lemonade nectar  (1 scoop of Nectar with 1pkg of crystal lite rasp. lemonade and 1 bottle of water) shake and mixed in a shake it jug with ice. Snack- 1 Slim-a-Bear Klondike No Sugar Added Ice Cream Sandwich, 100 calories 3gms of sugar, 6 gms of sugar alcohol.  YUMMIE Snack- about 4 good handfuls of boiled peanuts (handfuls before they were shucked....I am from the South and my hubby brought home 3 big bags to boil!!)  YUMMY!!! 1/2 banana Dinner- Not really hungry today, so I had 3 bites of a piece of plain cheese pizza that my hubby and son ordered from this AWESOME pizza place that makes it locally only, fresh and organic, real tomatoes instead of jared sauce, its not like pizza hut, its low cholesterol and organic yummy pizza, the best we have ever had, called OC Pizza.  :) Late Snack, will probably have a piece of cheese and/or protein shake before bed. I am really, really constipated, so I am trying to up my fruit and salads again.  I haven't been able to go to the bathroom for like 3 days, so I am about 4 pounds heavy right now, 2 days ago I weighed 148, today I weighed 154, but that is because I have weighed after drinking 2 32oz mugs of water with propel.  (My husband always reminds me tha****er weighs a lot and not to weigh after drinking lots of water).   Also, once I am able to unclog myself, and get back to normal, I will weigh back down in the 147's again.  It is normal for me to bounce like this when I am constipated.  I really need to figure out how not to get constipated, but I have had this problem since day 1! Hey Deb, You made alot of good choices today, congratulations on that ...Do you often have days where you can only eat 3-5 bites of something, I was wondering, cause I know when I get really constipated I find I get a full feeling really fast also, I think it is because everything is so backed up that the food really doesn't have room to go far and I get the full signal much quicker than normally...As for the constipation, I too struggle with this often, except when it is time for "Aunt Flo" I usually do not go except every 2-3 days and what helps me then is a combination of things, I take Milk of Magnesia, use suppositories and or when it goes for more than 4 days I will take a dulcolax ( I don't like to use the laxative unless I'm pretty desperate cause my doc told me using them can become addictive and then you will not be able to "go" with out them )... Anyway, good luck and I hope you "move" soon... Alesia

Yeah, that is normal for me.  I can't eat much at once, esp. if it is meat and such, the same as it was during the first part after surgery.  When I had an egd done a few months back, the surgeon said my pouch was still very small, and its the same as it was after surgery....just relaxed a bit, so I can eat a bit more. I know sugar doesn't bother me as much as it used to.  Anyway, its still a struggle just to not eat bad.  I am down about 3 lbs since taking the MOM which I knew it would be.  I have gained about 2 lbs from my breast implants, which was expected, but I gain when I am constipated, but I still would like to get 10lbs off. Hey, did you see the ad up here on this site, Dr Shawn Garber remaking the pouch??  Endoscopically via the mouth?  I suppose maybe he is re-stapling the line to make it small again?? Hmm, interesting. I don't have a period anymore, I had a hysterectomy years back, so no problems there. :) Thanks!   Take care, Deb

Hello Girlfriend! Good to see you here.  This is my first time here.  I love it already because this is for us WLS grads. Glad you are doing well.  I am also doing well but being careful to watch out for the temptation to eat carbs.  I haven't had internet for so long and have missed dailyplate.com so have started that again.

Hey Joan!! Yes, I come over here on WLS grads because it seems we are all dealing with the same things.  How in the world do we get back on carbs after not eating them for over a year??? I see very much how easy it is to slip back into the old ways, so I really really try not to eat the carbs.  I am also noticing how sugar does not effect me as much.  Well, natural sugar like in tomatoes, fruit (fresh) and naturally occuring sugars have never really bothered me much, processed sugars do bother me. I don't eat candys or cookies, etc.... but I did not realize how good granola bars were until I ate one the other night for just a taste of something.  The honey and oats have natural sugars, but also they have regular sugars.  The 2 bars are 180 calories, so I don't eat them often at all, but sometimes, its okay. I love raisins and dried fruits, and as long as they are organic, like with organic nuts like from Trader Joes, then I am okay with them.  I just don't eat a lot.  My pouch is still very small, but I know the stoma has relaxed, because I can eat quantities, but not much.  At dinner or main meals, I can't eat much, usually just a bit of meat, like steak or chicken, probably 3-4 bites, and I am full, but I notice my saity doesn't last  as long.  I just make myself not to eat between meals.  If I do, its usually just a handful of nuts or like before a granola bar(not anymore) I am going to get back on my protein bars instead, power crunch. Now that it is summer, I LOVE the Klondike Slim-A-Bear No sugar added (round shaped**** cream sandwiches!!  A big sandwich is only 100 calories, and only 3gm of sugar and 6gm of sugar alcohol, so not bad, and very very yummy and creamy and the chocolate sandwich part tastes soooo chocolatey and yummy. I also love the sugar free fudge bars, only 40 calories each.  I usually will have 2 of those in the afternoons, and they hit the spot when its hot out!! I have gotten to where I keep some celery and carrot sticks in water and some good cheese like brie, boursin, gouda and whatnot to have as a snack with some plain crackers.  I also have grapes too, so its a nice little snack of veggies with lite ranch dressing, cheese, a few crackers and some grapes.  makes a great pick me up, or something to nibble on late in the nigh****ching tv.  Last night I was sooo full on the veggies and cheese that I skipped dinner, but I did make a protein drink afterwards so I would have my protein in. Just decreasing my carbs, and getting back on the wagon so to speak, has really worked for me.  In just a few days, I am back down about 3 pounds, but partly due to constipation.  I am now 151, which is about right if you add on the 2pounds for the breast implants, which weigh about 1 pound each....that is right where I have been in the past 6 months, between 145-148.  I have really been stuck at 148lbs for the past 6-8 months, so that must be where my body wants to be!! Well, I really really want to drop about 5-10 more pounds to be at my dream goal weight.  I would  LOVE to see the 130's again, havent seen 130s in over 20 years, so not sure if that is realistic.  I always was around 145-150 in high school, and at 5'9", not bad at all for my height. I am maintaining my size of 4/6, or Small, which is good.  I really want to be a 6 or under, so as long as I don't gain size wise, I am happy :) well, thanks for the updates!!   I haven't been online as much as I used to, just have not had time lately.  I am going to have to get the stent put in my liver to my bile duct, and then leave it in, and wear the "bile bag surgical drain" for a few weeks, and they will then remove it and do the ERCP again, like they did last October.  We think the scar tissue with the bile stones, even if really tiny are blocking up the sphincter again, so if they will just do the surgery again, I will be good!  The trick is now convincing the bile duct specialist that it is clogged.  He says no way, he did such a good job the first time, no way its clogged again.  Well, it has nothing to do about his job, or skills, just my body produced the scar tissue and stones, and that will sometimes happen.  Anyway Joan, he is the only one who disagrees with the other docs.  I might end up down in San Diego with Dr Whitgrove, Carnie Wilson's doc, to do the ERCP since the doc here just won't budge. I am just praying for the surgery to hurry up and be done, and for the doctor to realize I need to get this surgery done, so I can get on with life!!  I had to postpone Nursing School until the end of October so I can get this taken care of.  I am also having my last plastic surgery on August 30th, my Thigh Lift, and he said I would lose about 6 to 10 pounds from each thigh, and back of my legs/buttocks, so that will be good.  He is also going to do the fat injections into my buttocks so they won't be square and concave! Hope you are doing well!!  There is a load of info here on the WLS Grad boards.  I have done the "time out" diet  that I got from here, which is just going on nectar for a couple of weeks, and that really does help me to drop fast.  I can't do just protein drinks all day, I usually just substitute 2 meals per day, and that makes all the difference in the weight loss, and drinking lots of fluids will make you pee a lot too, so that helps you to get rid of the waste. :) God Bless!!!   Thanks for the sweet emails and prayers!!  As Always, Sister's in Christ, Deborah

We all need to recognize our struggle areas and then do something about it.  I know I have been tempted by the cookie jar.  Hubby loves his cookies.  So I try to grab laughing cow cheese and a couple maybe 5-7 LF crackers with it and then I feel like I can munch yet eat healthy.  This is continuous change of thinking and sticking with it. With being 5'1" I have to be careful because the weight can show up so fast.  I probably will never be able to do any plastic surgery although I really am sad over arms and legs...they look the worst.  But hey if we move to Colorado I can wear clothes that cover that anyway! Hope you get the bile duct and school issue worked out.  The Lord will direct your path...just be still and know He is God. Maybe when we drive from Co to CA we can visit.

Thanks Joan, You too could do plastics.  Dr Fuentes is the best plastic surgeon I have ever seen.  He is soooo much cheaper than stateside docs.   I only paid $3900 for my breast lift with implants, and my thighs, which will be the most extensive of the surgeries, and the longest to recover from, and that will cost a whopping $6050.00.   I paid $5400 for my lower body lift, and so I feel I have gotten a true bargain, seeing that I was quoted over $50,000 for my LBL and Thighs by Dr Katzen, and that did not include any hospital or medication or anesthesia fees.  So, I know I have gotten a better surgeon than Dr Katzen, and better prices on top of it.  Dr Katzen had wanted to do all these horrible incisions, that went from my sternum down my middle to the pelvic bone, and I would have had a horrible scar there.  Well, Dr Fuentes said that was only because it showed inexperience on his part.  I am SOOOO Happy with Dr Fuentes, and he is double board certified in Mexico and USA in reconstructive plastic surgery.   If you ever decide you want a quote from him, just snap a few pics and email Dr Fuentes and he will tell you what you will need done, and how much he will charge you.  I just love that man, and he is soooo great, and also a Christian. Take care, and chin up, you never know, you might could afford him more than you think you can!!!  I have had to save for each surgery, but the good thing is that  you don't have to save much, he is such a great surgeon!  :) HUGS!!! Alesia, every day is a work in progress!!!!! Anyhoo, my day was better than Friday..although I'm sure I could have improved on it Breakfast protein with coffee s cheese stick L 6 oz yoplait light w/ 1/2 cup of grape nuts trail mix S protein with coffee (again, sigh) D shrimp and corn taken off the cob, sauteed in a bit of olive oil and garlic with 1/4 cup of pasta salad S verry berry cheerios, popcorn I got in about 150 oz of water so I'm good on that account....Have a great day all! Yahoo!! Good Day Dede...The yogurt and grape nuts sounds good, do you mix it together? I cannot eat cereal since surgery, I've tried like 6 times at various stages, but is always makes me dump, not sure why, but think its because of the softness the cereal gets in the milk, can eat cereal dry and do sometimes, really like to put the granola types on top of my salads... Enjoy the rest of the day...Keep up the great job ...Alesia
