Hey Dede, Yes it appears it was a bit of a crazy day for you too...Glad you will be shooting to get back on track for Saturday, hope today was better...As for me, I really did not eat much at all, but I did have 1 & 1/2 of these lemon shortbread cookies just to kinda hold me over during the day, did not think they were such a bad choice then I looked at the label on the box, too late , they really bumped my day up with alot of nothing...Trying again on Sunday... Good Luck to you too...Alesia

Well, I didn't follow my planned menu yesterday and I didn't do so hot.  Could have been worse though.  But after seeing my totals, I know why it was soooo hard for me to run at the gym last night! B-- leftover spaghetti (made with ground turkey and Barilla Plus protein noodles) L-- MexiMelt from Taco Bell S-- 2 protein balls D-- nachos and low fat sour cream S-- Dove chocolates Calories:  1187       Carbs:  98       Protein:  58 I ran for 2.50 miles on the treadmill and then walked fast for 1 mile.  But I was sooooo drained and it was all I could do to get this much in.  I need to eat more and eat more wisely!   Deanna  :)

Oewww Deanna, You are not kidding, really low on the protein and I know you don't usually fall that low...Sometimes I choose stuff that seems to me like it would be pretty decent in protein, not so bad in cals and then I find out I was way off, finding out that it really pays to look at the labels of check ingredients lists before I pop it in my mouth, but doesn't always happen that way...Today was a perfect example as tomorrows food posting will show ...Just got to press on and learn from the past... See ya tomorrow, it is a new day and it will be better...Alesia

The good news is at 28 months out of DS I am at my lowest weight ever....  I need to start thinking about protein loading for plastics (upper body/arms hopefully in Sept.).  My protein levels are on the high end of normal - higher than I was pre-op but I might start doing shakes (ugh) just to boost it before surgery. Anyway... here was my friday.  Not the best day, not the worst: 9am - 1 leftover hamburger patty (large - like 6-8 oz) on low carb bread spread with garden cream cheese and low-sugar ketchup  (yummy!) & some tortilla chips 11am - 2 donuts , 1 large coffee the insides of 1 McDonald's Double cheeseburger 1pm - 3/4 cup of honey roasted peanuts, 1 protein bar (EAS, Apple) 3pm - Chipolte's Burrito bowl complete with rice and tortilla chips and extra salsa  (good stuff!) 5pm - 2 Pop-Tarts   7pm - 1 packet of full-sugar sweetened instant strawberry oatmeal , 2 Ry-Krisp with butter 9pm -  2/3 of a frozen California Pizza Kitchen Garlic Chicken pizza (thin crust) , 2 more pop-tarts !!   10pm - 3 scoops of  Breyers Twix icecream on a cake cone   Of course all my vits and about 120 oz of liquids (diet green tea mostly!)   Cindy

Hi Cindy, Don't know all that much about the food choices involved in eating after DS...When I look over what you ate, I have to go whoa, what a difference from what a RNYer post op and maintaining eats, so forgive me if I cannot say if you did great or not...But what I can add is, I agree you, when I was ready to do my 2 dif plastics I really concentrated on upping proteins so recovery would go smoothly, also you might make sure to add a vitamin C supplement to your diet, I heard that it can help with recovery to and both mine went very smoothly... Good Luck and come on in to post anytime...  Alesia

Hi Alesia, Thank you for the info on vitamin C.  I will buy some tomorrow at the vitamin store when I go to replenish my magnesium, etc I am almost out of.   As for food...well my Friday choices were poor ones (usually I am pretty low carb - under 100 grams a day) but calorie wise I average 5500 - 6000 a day on most days.  Most of the calories come from protein and fat which DSers malabsorb... I'll have to post on a more "normal" day for me.  I do eat a lot, but I exercise pretty regularly.  So far no re-gain.... I keep waiting for that 10% bounce-back they say will happen between 2-3 years out.  I didn't realize until reading this thread today how little RNYers eat - even ones who are further out.  I thought capacity evened out to be "normal" portions for RNYers at 2+ years out?   I can't wait for my upper body plastics to be done!!!!!!  I just want to get on with life (and maybe wear a bathing suit in public without cover-ups!)   Cindy
