Alcohol & feeling VERY warm???

Hi....Ill be 5 yrs out next month.  Prior to surgery, I never has this issue, but, I wonder if it happens for anyone else...I love wine. I really do. I know its not GREAT for me (dont you DARE email me and flame me, Im 5yos out, keeping my weight off and exercise everyday)...but, Im gonna drink it bc I love the taste and the way it interacts with food and my palate.  What Im wondering, is....Does anyone else get really WARM and sweaty when they have their first drink and then about 1/2 later, all is well? I ask, bc since surgey, Im single (divorced after wls) and I date A LOT, plus, in NYC, well, dining out and having a ****tail is a way of life.  I know all about the studies and research on alcohol and the blood stream. I have been there, done that.  Ive had (and I say HAD) many a blackout before but no longer.  Its embarrasing to be sweating with your gf's or on a1st date?  Ive started to resort to having the 1st one or two ****tails at home before the date so as not to sweat.  Sweating is not attractive unless its during sex or on the elipitical machine. *****ALSO, on a side note, anyone know how to change the pic that shows up next to my name?

That happens to me every time I drink wine!  It's worse with red, which I love, so if I am out I will drink white.  I can't stand the sweating, it is embarassing!  I don't drink that often becasue I don't like the way it makes me feel.  I get light headed and drunk feeling right away then in 7-10 minutes the feeling passes, but then I feel hung over and tired and I am talking about 1 glass of wine!  In social situations I stick to flavored vodka and club soda, I have them put it in a tall glass with alot of ice and then of course I stir a lot of the bubbles out.  Club soda at a bar is usually pretty flat any way!  I do miss having a nice glass of red wine with dinner. Cheers!

Yep, me too.  I don't drink often and that feeling actually makes me drink less - I get so hot I feel sick.  After a while it goes away and everything is fine, even if I continue drinking.  Strange....

Have you tried having a drink after having some food in your stomach? Does that make a difference? Just a thought , I know as a rule we aren't suppose to drink anything too soon  after eating but maybe a light protien snack would  help that hot, sweaty feeling. I don't have experience with trying this but I wondered if you might have tried it. Sher

I have tried it with food and still get the sweaty reaction especially with red wine.  I am not fond of white so I have not experimented in that area yet.   Vodka and rum drinks I am good with.  Not sure why wine has the reaction. Debbie

Heather: It sort of sounds like dumping.  Do you dump on sweets or anything?  Is it similar to that feeling?  I have heard of people dumping on alcohol alot.  Especially anything sweet!  I do notice when I drink , it seems to really hit me fast, and wears off faster too.  Good luck!!  DeeAnn

Dee Ann- I dont dump, never have....Ill be 5yrs out in 2 wks.....It (the sweating, etc) goes away as quickly as it comes, is weird.  I swear, if Im trying to make a good impression, I drink at home before showering.  HAAH!

Heather, I'm not a wine drinker~I prefer Absolut w/anything sugar free, but alcohol in and of itself makes me feel very warm (now and before surgery). Anyway, I saw your familiar face and just wanted to say HI!

A tad bit of starch before a glass of red helps me with the over warm sensation.  I will eat two or three crackers before my first glass of red. I *only* drink red wine since my surgery.  It is my favorite anyway and I prefer the taste, results and after effects of wine. I tend to have less reaction the more regularly I drink.  Just saying...... Congrats of your five years, chickie, great new world, eh?
