When I saw you were at goal and struggling with at goal problems I thought I am glad he feels welcome here.  You are welcome here.  She got a royal flaming for being rude to you.  This is the place for these types of issues.  Please stick around.  Loris

Brian, Congrats on your journey......... so far.  I do not have the same issues, but I do have some support group information to pass along.  The nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, etc) is a great idea.  So it PEANUT BUTTER!  My office co-workers laugh at me because I eat my pb off a plastic spoon.  I need the protein and a bit of a sugar stabilizer due to diabetes.  I am not at goal yet (18 months out) but the need to add higher quality protein is universal. Feel free to ask anywhere..........  Sometimes we can be slightly protective of our turf, but the water's great and there is always room for one more! Vicky

I have to say I was offended by LynW's  comment.  I'm mostly a lurker on these boards because of people like LynW making those kinds of comments.  Aren't we all here support everyone no matter where they are in their progress and shouldn't everyone feel that they can post a message on any board and not be slammed because they are a "regular part of the board".  Granted the grads board is supposed to be for 1 year+, but do we have to be rude to people who post?  Brian was just looking for some advice from people with a similar experience.  Why shoudn't he post on the WLS board?  Where better to find people who may have had the same experience.  I get tired of the boards filling up with select groups and then others feel that they can't post or when they do are told by some rude people not to post to the board because they aren't in a select group.   I'll continue to lurk, but I have to say that it's the kinds of comments that come from folks like LynW that put me off these boards and turn to other avenues for my support network.

Please ignore LynW's comment.  The grad board was set up for those 1 year out or more so that we would have a place to deal with the issues that come with being farther out from surgery.  But anyone is welcome here especially if you have questions for those who are farther out than you so that you can know what to expect and all.  So, feel free to come here and post any questions or concerns you may have because most of us here are more than willing to answer questions from those just a few months out who have concerns.  And most of us are very friendly and do not bite.  LOL.  Congrats on your weight loss and good luck with the rest of your journey. Brian I dont have your problem but I just want to say that you should porbably speak with a nutrionist. With all the research I have been doing about WLS for the last 7 years (yes I started researching 3 years preop) I believe that it is uncommon to get & stay under weight, Please dont think that I am saying it never happens,I do understand there are mediacl issues that can occur, it just seems to be the norm to go below goal and then bounce back. I also think if you truly are that concern you could add extra calories. Its a scary thing to think of for me which is why I suggested the Nutrionist in the first place. Anyway  Good luck.  you will usually find very helpful people here :-) Diana RNY 9/17/03 360/200/still aiming for 180

Incredible progress man.  Interesting question but I'd probably do some extra protein because weightlifters try to gain on the stuff believe it or not. I'd also post this issue on the mens board as they have some body builders in there,,,namely Carbon bob or something like that.  He has great knowledge with nutrition.  Good luck, you have done great

Thanks for all the words folks. I have been posting to the RNY board since late last year i think and just felt this type of question would be best answered on a board where most people would be at, close to  or under goal. I assumed "Garduates" would be just that :) Anyways, i appreciate the suggestions and i do work out though putting on muscle with so little intake is not so easy. Im workin on it though. I have a 6 month doc appt in a few weeks and ill discuss my issues there as well. Thanks again though. Now back to "lurking" only. LOL

Hey, I'm here every day and PLEASE feel free to post anytime~you don't need to just be a lurker! The fact is that this problem usually occurs in people at least 1yr post op, you just happened to hit it a bit earlier than others. I have found from personal experience and from others with this problem that the body does generally regulate itself and find its set point. However, since your "window of opportunity" is still so large, you will probably need to up your caloric intake to stop the loss. Make wise choices so that you don't sabotage yourself down the road b/c for most of us, things change around year 2 or 3. I'm maintaining nicely now, but it does take some work! I'm sure your dr will have alot of solid advice for you so hang in there! And again, please feel free to post any time!
