Hi, Nope, lost it over 15 years ago, but I remember the pain was really bad and did feel like a heart attack.  I am glad you are better!!! Take care, Kathy

Hi Kathy Sure glad you got such good news about your heart.  I have been followed for elevated liver enzymes though not so high both pre and still now 4 yrs post op.  My PCP sent me to a GI specialist who tested for all of the liver disorders through blood work and a liver biopsy.  In my case they found fatty liver and irritation of the cells that had previously been filled with fat.  If I were you I would insist on a liver biopsy because that should give the specialist the info. needed for a diagnosis and of course tell about your concerns about artificial sweeteners--perhaps changing the type you use(aspartame vs. non-aspartame) would be helpful.  Good Luck and know that the liver biopsy is usually pretty easy to endure.

Do you still have your gallbladder?   I have the exact same thing, and did not have my gallbladder since 1994, and last year had the same symptoms, and it was bile stones in the bile duct, and I had to have a lap assisted ERCP.  Well, now its clogged again with stones and scar tissue, so I am having to have a stent put into the liver to the bile duct, and it will drain like a surgical drain for a couple of weeks, and then I hope they will do another ERCP so I can get on with it. The doctor said the chance of it happening again is slim to none, but it sounds like you have the exact same thing I do.  The gastric bypass doctor said that he is starting to see more of this in patients who do not have a gallbladder before RNY surgery, and unfortunately its becoming commonplace.   Your LFTs will go down as soon as the bile duct is open, and the only way to do this is an ERCP through your old stomach, via laproscope.  DO NOT let them even try to do the ERCP through your esophogus if  say you need surgery, because the risk of damaging your pouch and the hook ups of your intestine, making that sharp turn, to get to your bile duct, is very risky.   My RNY doc here had to open up my old stomach, and then the bile duct surgeon goes in and goes to the bile duct via that route, and opened up the sphincter, and immediately I felt better after the surgery because all the bile, and the little stones they found, and sludge, helped a lot. :) Take care and God Bless!
