Something is frying my liver???

I had elevated counts prior to surgery but they went back to normal post-op. They've been slightly elevated since but they think it could be due to some of the medications I take. When I first started testing for elevated counts, we found that I'm a carrier of alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. Went through all kinds of test as it's something very rare. Through all of the tests, luckily it was just determined that I was a carrier and didn't actually have the deficiency. I agree that the artificial sweetners could be the culprit though. I have taken them back out of the equation lately because of that.

Saw your post. My liver levels have been elevated since i had gastric done almost 2 years ago. But just the last 1.5 months its going up. Its now 650 and 550s and now came down some. They aren't sure whats causing this. If its all the meds i am on or what. Since the weekend i have been getting mild pains on my right side. I am having a endoscopy on wed. next week with a possible dialation if my pouch shrunk and then they will tell me weather or not i need a liver biopsy done..Guess we are in the same boat.

WoW!  I am 2 1/2 years out and I had something like your situation happen.  I am sleeping and out of my sound sleep I wake up to a severe spasm in my chest.  It felt like a huge chalie horse around my rib cage!  I couldn't take a breath!  I couldn't talk!  I did wake up my husband who was wanting to take me to the ER but it went away.  It has happened 4 times, I thought it was because I have a incisional hernia (small) from the gastric which was huge and operated on last year.  For some reason it ruptured again, just not as bad.  I also had my labs done 2 months ago for my 2 year and got a call my liver was elevated a bit, but they didn't say much else other than it could be because my Calcium levels were low. So I upped them with Calcium Citrate.  But now I am definately seeing my surgeon on August 9, to discuss this and fixing my hernia and a tummy tuck.  The tummy isn't that bad, just won't tighten anymore and since I am out already.  I hope everything goes well for you and everyone here!  You all definately all got me to move my fanny to the doctor.  Best wishes and luck to all of us!  

That's interesting how our docs let us know our levels are high but don't seem to concern.  I really don't think they have a clue!!!!! Let us know what you find out ok? Take care, Kathy

Well he better get a clue!  He sees me Aug 9 and I want answers and solutions to my answers.  My friend is 6 months out and just got her bloodwork done and guess what?  Her levels are high and her primary doctor is the one who said he wants her in NOW!  Not her surgeon, same as mine and he still hasn't called with the results. 

About a year ago, I was in the hospital for 2 days because my liver enzymes were in the 3000's and I felt like I was having a heart attack. It was my gallbladder. Have you been checked for gallastones( if you still have it)?
